What do you miss from your home town/county

Ramsey

After moving around the UK for most of my adult life and spending at least half of that at sea. I have settled in Essex.

I miss good old scrumpy cider and the soft west country accent.

What do you miss most if you are no longer living in your home town/county??

Ok, more specifically:

I miss the pizza. I miss all the people. I miss the speed of life. I miss the big houses. I miss the subway. I miss snow. I miss my friends. Most of all, I miss the openess of social interactions and people's brash approach to life.

Well it's complex for me, as I spent part of my childhood in rural County Durham, and the other part in the Middle East.

I miss the countryside, city living now can be intense. But I don't miss the narrowed minded attitudes, I'm sometimes reminded of this when we meet other swingers from my old stomping ground.

As for the middle east? There's some very intense memories there, both positive and negative.

.

I miss the small village feel. I miss the green and my school was bloody epic as was running about and playing in the woods.

I miss seeing the cricket players and all the beautiful cars that would drive through. I miss the best smallest pub there was - the first place I had a drink and got chatted up by a pilot.

And I miss the more accepting nature of it. People gossiped (it was a village) but there was such a community feel and so little racism.

Sounds idyllic - no wonder you miss it. For their retirement, my parents opted for quiet country village life, and they love it.

Henderson's Relish, my extended family. Actually having a proper Yorkshire accent.

I don't miss living in a massive city, or 'Meadowhell', and the last time I was there on my own I had no idea how to commute across the city to Meadowhall, and I got lost in there too.

I miss my family, the ice rink, and the feeling of always having a mate who's house I could escape to.

The fact I was so close to London, yet 20 mins in the car and I was at the seaside.

I miss the warmer weather.

And I miss not having the responsibilities I do now.

I had a future to look forward to back then.
