Love stargazing, even invested in a telescope a while back. But living in these areas means a lot of light pollution

Anyone know where I can go for a good night star gazing. I know I can look on google but always prefer to hear people's opinions from experience

Oh...and if anyone wants to come, they'll be cake

Bitches love cake

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Google Dark Sky Discovery and you should find somewhere to go. There's nothing round here - far too much light pollution to see anything apart from the brightest stars and planets. I thought SE Asia would be good for star gazing but there was too much dust in the air.

Would love to join you if you do find anywhere near me. I love that sort of thing. I'll bring the cake.

Absolutely, lots of very happy memories created in that area, we took my son to Kirroughtree for a play on the zip wire and an ice cream to tell him he had a little brother or sister on the way . I think it softened the blow

Northumberland national park, Nothumberland. Apperently this has a gold-tier status for star gazing. Supposedly able to see all sky phenomena which includes the Nothern Lights.

The best night skies I ever saw were in Sinai, Egypt and Australia's Northern Territory. Bit of a trek though ...

Sinai was gobsmacking .... I had no idea the sky could look like that, and no clue what I was looking at except it was out of this world. Had never seen shooting stars until then.

Never seen celestial objects such as the Milky Way or a nebula because of the light pollution where I live

But I have had a good look at the moon, I've even seen Jupiter and it's moons as well as the Saturn

You can just make out the ring round Saturn with the telescope I have

If you can see saturns ring. (Always sounds rude) you could/should find I galaxy/nebula on a clear night. I can only see one where I am because of the light pollution. 10cm refractor.

You live in a great place to get out, see and even photography the Milky Way. A trip north into the Troshacs with a night wild camping should do the trick.

Get the skymap app on your phone. Great app, shows you exactly what you're looking at and you can search for specific objects.
