Megadrive emulator. I love games where you're playing ten seconds after turning the thing on. Run, Sonic, run!

Or X-Box but I did have a PS1 and 2. I only got the X-Box cos it was cheap 2nd hand.

"So xbox360 or ps3? "

for just you or for the kids aswell? best for family entertainment is the wii but i think both x-box and ps3 come with the sensor things - probably they will take over in that department now.

My kids have used both and prefer the Ps3 - i miss the sega megadrive personally hehe

Also, it's free to play on-line on the PS network where you have to pay to use the x-box on-line.

Carambar Jr has an XBox, only cause all his mates have one too. We're already on to the 2nd one as the first died a slow and painful death thanks to Microsoft's shoddy build quality.

As a kid I had a ZX Spectrum, an Atari ST, a SNES and a Megadrive (not at the same time, of course), but I don't touch consoles any more and I hardly play PC games either... I guess I just kinda grew out of it.

ps - anyone who's into the old retro games, have a look at a site called Retrospec - "Retro gaming at its best".

They've updated loads of the classics like Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Tranz Am, Jetpak, Chuckie Egg, etc... so graphically they look like today's games but still have the gameplay of the original games.

360 has better graphics than PS3. Most games are developed on 360 first then 'ported' over to PS3. This results in graphical compromises.

Both consoles have their advantages and disadvantages.

Nerd moment lol: 360 does have better graphics, however i believe the ps3 has more intelligent grunt for real world physics etc

Yep, I'm bound to be buying Carambar Jr one of these to replace his "day one" Wii as soon as it's released.

I've got a soft spot for Nintendo (and Sega... RIP).

The Xbox 360 has a superior gpu (graphics chip) than the PS3 as originally the PS3 wasn't going to have one and let the cell processor do everything... until they realised it couldn't and so wodged a GPU into the design. Hence why the GPU can only access half the machines ram and other issues. Also the Cell is just a power pc CPU at the core with 7 SPEs which are fast math units. *7.

Problem with that is the CPU has to feed these SPEs which makes it good for predictable work (video compression/decompression etc) but poor for general computing. The xbox 360 has 3 power pc CPUs in it.

All in all the Xbox is easier to develop for as been a more traditional architecture and has better dev tools. To get the same or better performance out of the PS3 takes a lot of dev effort, thus cost. Hence why most PS3 ports are not as good as the PC/Xbox version.

[And yes I worked as a developer in the games industry!]

I rarely play games on my xbox and use it more as a media centre to stream stuff from my PC.

Anyhow bottom line is, whichever gives you enjoyment!
