WILTSHIRE

According to media reports, users of the dating website Guardian Soulmates have received explicit emails after the data breach. Guardian News and Media, which has run the online dating website for the last 13 years, confirmed that the email addresses and Soulmates usernames were exposed by a 3rd-party service provider. Guardian News and Media has received more than two dozen inquiries from its members that present evidence of their email addresses used for Soulmates account having been exposed. The company launched investigations that found out that it was the fault of a human error by one of its third-party technology providers, which resulted in an exposure of an extract of data.

My friend was on a site many years ago details were leaked was IE .I think alot of profiles were fake and computer generated so men would pay to message women who were given silver or gold membership free .

Now that rings a bell too! Also because I have used IE before discovering Swingers clubs.

But I was more interested in if anyone might actually have used The Guardian Soulmates?

I was on GS for a while but never really saw anyone who interested me enough to have any dates. Not had any explicit messages since the breach. Wish I had

I had a look a few years ago, but so very few men lived North of the Watford Gap, it wasn't worth my while.

Yes, I used it a long while back and there were certainly some educated and interesting people on there, I met a few and one is a friend still. But last time I tried it the zeitgeist had definitely moved on, it was dead as a dodo on there, no-one was subscribed.

I've had some sexy dates through the Guardian - but always through the paper: not the website. Antiquated rules!

Think people got wise too the site as most were fake profiles as less people joined .

No I'm sure they were not fake profiles, I never came across a single one, just people who had stopped paying.

Yes, I had wondered about that too. I thought perhaps subscribe for six months to trawl everything that might come up in the North West over that period of time. But I think it is a London thing / Southern thing.

I had a 40% discount offer ending last night at midnight. I ended up deciding that it will be easier for me to find an intelligent and / or well-educated (or over educated) guy on here through the sheer volume of single guys getting through the mill of Fabs.

The huge advantage of fab is that I won't have to spell it out that sex is important to me!

Almost made me sway there!

That does impress me! I did not know they still featured those sections in the paper version, never noticed them! Any specific day of the week?

It's Saturday in the Guardian and Sunday in The Observer. I was just thinking about maybe placing one again. Obviously they can't be raunchy, but I think you can always tell if there's an undercurrent ...

Any new experiences on The Guardian Soulmates website?

Contemplating using it, again, but worry that it's more of a Southern thing?
