I no longer have anyone to go to festivals with but I want to go to Bloodstock or Download next year Did download alone a few years ago, had a blast. Didn't have anyone to hold me back from drinking or making friends, or saying 'dont see them, come see these' etc. To be fair I have never had someone hold me back at a festival. I usually go in a big group but they've all grown up and are having children and things Ahh, well I know there's 'Camp Loner' at DL, but I just camped in normal and made friends the old fashioned way haha. My worst thing is the tent...I can't put up a tent for shit. Maybe I will go RIP camping Alright for some eh! get one of those cheap pop up ones and leave it! They donate all the left ones to charity afterwards if they're in good knick

If you're on your own you'd be better going for one of the small pod things, as they are tiny and how they set them out, they are normally easy to get chatting to others But every time I've done it it's been great just driving on and setting your tent up next to your car, means you can pack way more clothes lol That alone has been worth the extra money in some of the wet and muddy years we've had | |||

I have difficulty telling the difference between a lot of these pop acts as they all seem to want to sound the same... just like a lot of rap and 'new (or is it 'nu'?) Hip hop. They just spund to me like they're trying too hard. I either like a tune or I don't. I say just do your thang, it doesn't worry me. "Of course! Is there any other kind of music? Classical? Opeth come under both... I'd say quite a bit of classical is very rock 'n' roll..... Said he last friday wearing a ratm shirt singing Delibes flower duet....(I was in the car but you probably still heard me!) What about Cradle of Filth? They incorporate classical music and they are definitely not rock 'n' roll haha Uh oh. We have this argument almost every week when they have a band on (thankfully once again, they stopped for a while & I need beer & rock 'n' roll on a Friday night!) Older mate of mine who saw all the cool bands in the 70's reckons it all started with the blues - if there were no blues there'd be no rock 'n' roll and therefore no metal/thrash/industrial/death/wasking machine whatever pigeon hole you choose to place it... Of course I counter with the old 'what about Wagner then?' Argument & he sees his arse.....
The same can be said about all genres of music. It all comes from classical music, as that is all they had in the ancient worlds. Everything is derived from something, and some genres incorporate others in order to express different emotion in the music.
I thought everyone knew that and had gotten over it a long time ago?
Oh lord no, there's always someone who'll spout off about some aspect of music

I reckon it comes from something as ancient as banging sticks together.... once you got rythmn man....
Others will argue the blues & one of my learned friends denies it's got anything to do with either....
Every artist changes the game. That's what makes them different to the other artists within their genre. That's common sense
Hmmmm, not sure anout every artist. I have difficulty telling the difference between a lot of these pop acts as they all seem to want to sound the same... just like a lot of rap and 'new (or is it 'nu'?) Hip hop. They just spund to me like they're trying too hard. I either like a tune or I don't.
I say just do your thang, it doesn't worry me. Lady Gaga because of how diverse she is. She doesn't contain herself to one genre. Her latest album is very country, the one before that was jazz, she has performed with Maiden and Metallica as well as Marc Rhonson and Tony Bennet - she's a musical chameleon. | |||
