Shake a Cold in 24 hours

Been coming down with a humdinger for the last two days. Woke up and feel like I've been gargling razors and someone has filled my sinus cavity with poly filler.

Anyone have any good remedies. I am in a village so supplies are limited and I can't be bothered to drive yet.

Will try most things sensible.

Not much can be done to shift it, it has to ride its course. Rest, eat healthy, fluids, paracetamol, and avoid alcohol.

I think with a cold you just have to let it take its course

Sometimes it can take a few day sometimes weeks.

I very rarely get one but when I do mine sticks around for a while no matter what I take for it

Got any vicks?

If so, put a glob of it in a bowl with boiling water. Towel over your head and breathe.

This will help your sinuses and you should breathe much easier. If no vicks, do the water thing anyway. It will help.

If you catch it early saline nasal spray seems to help shorten the duration and reduce the severity of the symptoms. I first tried it when I was pregnant so avoiding drugs and found I got off lightly, it's now my go to. I avoid the First Defence type spray things though, make my nose hurt.
