I'm not one for criticism, I do love the tattoos that people have, I have one myself, just a small one on my forearm, and I must say, some on here are a work of art, and I admire them, very beautiful, but as you know (us older buggers) that in 10 years time, it won't be fashionable, and it will be fashionable to not have them, just random thoughts after a few beers, no harm intended.

Some of mine took a lot of planning and thought and have a story behind them.

The latest one took 5 hours and cost £500, got it just because I thought it looked cool.

They'll grow old and deteriorate, but so will the rest of me

Very true and they are beautiful, but I just wonder where this trend will go, I've seen many trends in my 52 years,

I wonder if it will go full circle. I think you'll be able to tell people's ages by the style of tattoo they have for sure.

I've a feeling that the next generation, say kids born now, will find it old fashioned, to be covered in tattoos, I'm not having having a go at anyone, I'm just interested in human nature.

not so sure about that, tattoos have been a staple of many cultures that has run through many generations...i think tatts are here in some form or other to stay but the style of them will change..those are my thoughts on it

I think the new generation tends to reject the previous generations tends.

Exactly my point, but I'm not a negative person, just curious.

Don't be so sure. Certain trend-based ones might look a bit silly, but surely that used to be part of the reason for getting them in the first place, to not be fashionable?

Probably. The thing is just like alternative comedians who always seem to end up on game shows eventually the individual ones end up main stream.

But the reason/memories for those tats will never change In your eyes. I have designed mine but need to loose more weight before I have it done. I don't care if it's not the in thing when I'm old.. but then I've never been a follower of trends.. I make my own xx

All my tattoos have personal meaning to me. All are designed by me and realised by my chosen artist. My sleeve will have been about 30 hours work and £2000 to finish, but in my mind money well spent.

I am planning my next sleeve already and a leg piece.

I find it quite amusing that I'll be a grannie one day with "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" on my thigh.

It doesn't matter about fashion/trends or other people's opinions, it's your ink, individual to you, bugger everyone else xx

True. I'm putting these things on me to tell a story. They're memories.
