most fade a little over time depending on colour and exposure to sun etc.

but you can always get them touched up to ensure colour lasts.

If a good quality ink is used the fade will be less, sunscreen is pretty essential as well.

if thats as decisive as you can be at the moment then I really would not bother at the moment. It is for life and you will have to look at it every day.

I would print out what you want and in the font you want. Then stick it to the back of your bedroom door. If you still like it after a year then go for it.

(personally I would not have anything below the elbow either ... one day you might want a job where tattoos have to be covered and a long sleeve shirt in the summer can be a bitch)

we have had a few issues placing people in jobs where they have followed the current trend for getting inked on the inside of forearms or getting a full sleeve.

having been a fan of tattoos for some time, it did shock me when i first came across it, but we now have 5 clients (4 of which are multinational) who will not inter_iew candidates with 'visible' tattoos (if wearing a short sleeved shirt).

we have talked some round to inter_iewing guys with inner arm tatts but big no no's remain ink on the hands, face, wrist and neck.

the perception (which i hasten to say i disagree with) is that they look 'unprofessional'

i dont think tatts are as taboo as that these days mate. sleeves are common-place on all kinds of professionals.

Having worked for a tattoo artist for several years its very common for people to come in to find out about removal as their career has changed and its affecting their job chances. The artist I worked for refused to do some tattoos as you could see the person hadnt thought the long term aspects thru

you would be surprised

in sectors of industry where you are representing a company, there are still looked down on

i have been left stupified by some of the reasons for not hiring candidates. even had 1 guy knocked back because he had a gold tooth

to quote my client, 'not at the the front but you could see it when he smiled'

You want to count on it? Even if you get it right (and to be frank I don't think you have), is it going to stay that way for your working life? Tis a big gamble.

I wouldn't. I REALLY wouldn't. You have not thought this through. To be honest you may as well go get d*unk ...go to some back street tatooist and pick something at random off the display.

the content won't matter if it is 'badly' placed in the eyes of an inter_iewer.

tattoo's are personal pieces, you choose what it is and where you place it and a good artist will talk you through the options available and offer guidance on the tatt and prep / treatment

imho tatts are becoming far too much of a fashion statement and people get them for the wrong reasons.

that is why despite i have wanted one for ages, it has taken me maybe 2/3 years to decide what i want, where i want it, a rough idea of how it will look and had a 'no needle' consultation with the artist.

at the end of the day it will be with me for life and i am doing it for me and not because i think it is currently 'trendy' to have 1.

I would shy away from one that is on display as the advice given is true.

I am fortunate enough to have had my career and can pick and choose pieces of work moving forward.

Did I have them when I worked in the corporate world.. NO.

choose wisely

a lot of inter_iewers go off value judgement as well as ensuring candidates have the right attitude and skills set for whatever position they are looking to fill.

if you put 2 candidates side by side who have a similar CV and both come across well at inter_iew, things like corporate image do come into play when 'hire or not' decisions are being made.

i work in a call centre - not public facing at all yet we are not allowed visible tattoos

i have one on my ankle and if i want to wear a short skirt i have to walk round with a whacking great plaster on my leg

"i am thinking of getting one for my birthday - really want a burlesque lady on my hip but can find an image i like - anyone know any good websites i can look on?"

you often have to pay for website based images

better of taking a look at burlesque images on google, printing off the ones you like and taking them to a good artist to take a look at how he/she can modify them to fit you.

and look for an artist who specialises in that kind of tatt rather than a general artist.

you may have to wait / travel / pay a bit more but the end result will be better and personal to you.

also try attending one of the many tattoo conventions to speak with a variety of artists and take a look at their work first hand.

looking at ur profile pics sbay you have big upper arms

a tattoo there would look good because of the definition and the skin is likely to be 'tight'

and placed there, it could be covered and uncovered at your choice

but at the end of the day, the decision has to be personal to you

so go with what is just that. as long as you think it out and use a good artist you won't go far wrong.

i have my two butterflies on my butt cheeks and also several cosmetic facial inkings. but i would really love a butterfly on my pussy, i havent really seen anything that would incorporate the area where it is to go. i have a general idea of what i want, but also am slightly put off by having a vanilla tatt person doing it for me in such an intimate area.
