Ripped Jeans

Walking down Oxford Street this morning I was struck by how many people had holes in the knees of their jeans. One very well known clothes retailer on the Street had a male and female manikin dressed in ripped jeans and a ripped tee shirt all for the price of £130! I know I am old and not a dedicated follower of fashion but ripped gear? A first world issue me thinks!

Although its a cool look on the fairer sex I'm alarmed to see the cult of the exposed ankles has now crossed to the male of the species....

Ripped at the knee super skinny saggy bum carrot trousers are not a good look for a guy....

But when I was on the pull in my youth ripped jeans were sewn up!

That said I had a pair of blue and grey tonics and a barathea with a Jaytex shirt............with button down collars!

I'm guilty of buying and owning expensive designer ripped jeans.

In my defence I have a bit of a designer jeans obession and have pretty much every pair I have had since I was 18.

My latest being a pair of Limited edition Nudie (the best jean maker) Stone Mason jeans

It's called fashion mate.

In 2017 you don't really need to wear clothes for warmth or practicality day to day in the UK. Therefore we can express ourselves through our clothing. I know that this concept might be alien to you - but sometimes people like to wear clothes that they like the look of.

And I think it's really shitty to judge people for that.

So, pretty judgy as opposed to full judgy?

If I had expressly pointed out that ripped and damaged clothing on sale at exorbitant prices was a ridiculous proposition and if you lived in a third world country you would be seeking to buy non damaged clothing then you could accuse me of being judgemental. But I didn't say that did I?

i think they look fine on 'young' people..it's wonderful to be able to wear daft fashion statement clothes when you're young! they should enjoy it while they can...i do despair of a lot of the men i see in a very wealthy, fashion concious area near me..men of 40 odd in falling down their ass,ripped jeans halfway down their calves, pointy weird loafery shoes,they just look ridiculous! but i would defend their right to go out looking ridiculous if they want to!
