when it started to be new way of paying compliment?

Am I missing something?

Personally I find it disgusting, even if it is hypothetical gf. To compliment one girl by dissing the other.

Who does it?

Stating your sexual preference isn't misogynistic. To do it in this way is definitely rude but it has nothing to do with misogyny.

"Stating your sexual preference isn't misogynistic. To do it in this way is definitely rude but it has nothing to do with misogyny. "

what does stating your sexual preference has to do with this thread?

And yes, this way of trying to pay compliment is literally definition of misogyny

The definition of misogyny is prejudice against women. I fail to see how saying that someone is more attractive than someone else (admittedly in an unacceptable, rude, obnoxious way) is prejudice against an entire sex?

"The definition of misogyny is prejudice against women. I fail to see how saying that someone is more attractive than someone else (admittedly in an unacceptable, rude, obnoxious way) is prejudice against an entire sex? "

little tone-death, aren't you?:

but ok, i will try to patient.

(I am not native English, so forgive me if I am not too good with grammar, trying to do my best)

The point of this compliment is not to say that I am hotter then his gf, I bet there is no gf at all. The point is, he thinks I will feel better, when he humiliate his girlfriend, so, I could be better then her. And his assumption I must like to humiliate other girl, to boost my self esteem.

Misogyny is objectifying woman, and - yes - being hat_ed towards them too. But there is so many levels of it. And usually man, who use women for their sexual pleasure only and manipulating them, are in that group.

And trying to manipulate one woman into feeling better because he said "my gf looks like shit next to you" is low class of manipulations, but must be working, if it is used more and more often.

It's a technique used by "pick up artists" (PUAs) who are one of the most openly misogynistic groups out there.

You're on a site for people to have sex. Whether in a couple or not. Deal with it. Stop being so holier than though. It's pathetic. If course you'll receive messages that are a bit stupid Or crass. Or is that misogyny too?

I bet many men have wrote humourous, well thought out one liners, or long winded messages that bore you too...and that probably didn't cut mustard either...

If a lady on here looked like Kate Blanchet let's say and received a comment like that then in all honesty the sender of the message was probably right! Saying that, I've yet to see a really attractive woman on here...

Queue mock indignation from the egomaniacal women of fab then....

I think you'd need to be inc_edibly naive to fall for a message like this. Although some women do get off on thinking that a guy finds them more attractive than their partner.

I think you may find nearly all women and men are aware they do not look like Hollywood stars, yet don't go around telling each other they look like shit. Also personally I have seen everything on this site, from the hideously malformed to the divinely beautiful, in both male and female form - just like out there in the real world. So it makes me question what your standards are, and how they relate to real, everyday women's faces and bodies.

I think it is just a line. A line that he probably hoped you would take as a compliment. Obviously not very well thought through. He probably doesn't even have a girlfriend, so there is no one to humiliate, he is more than likely just a horny uneducated fool. Why not just treat it with the contempt it deserves and ignore. I get igno_ed on a daily basis for sending nice messages lol

I have a few points to make on this.

Firstly, any men who think this sort of message in an attempt to attract anyone on here is acceptable, are both idiots and as explained highly misogynistic.

Secondly, I'm ashamed that some men have come on the thread in an attempt to either "mansplain" what misogyny is to women, or just simply to say they think there's nothing wrong with this type of message.

Seriously guys, don't be such utter dicks

I agree I think either way it's not a nice message. There's one person in my area who says his girlfriend is boring and he'd like to shag behind her back.

I just think it's a fantasist anyway. But don't understand why anyone would think that it would appeal.

Misogynistic is a strong word to use it meaning ' hat_ed of women' he is maybe misguided in his choice of words but then many men and women use the wrong words ....' sometimes' dissecting his personality based on a few irrational words isnt quite fair but you are as they say only as good as your last post

Maybe more than misogynistic?

Maybe in society where it is fashionable to diss people and watch them squirm and battle to be best on so called reality TV, some people see that continual battling against each other as normal. Theses guys think they are making you a 'winner' by saying such things but in fact they are just looking like wide mouths with narrow brains..

Blimey, its only 9.30 and that's a bit deep!

Did I just read someone using Kate Blanchett as a reasoning example to why people should meet and have sex with those they don't fancy?

That's how I read it, and I'll be honest, I don't think she's all that either.

I reckon, if Cate Blanchett did get a message like that from a man, she would think exactly the same as I did (who doesn't look like her). That would be along the lines of stupid cunt, where's your brain, if you actually have a girlfriend she deserves better, get a life.

I'm astounded by the brazen arrogance of some men in this thread, or is it just they're complete idiots?

The type of messages the OP was referring to, are demeaning and show a lack of care for women in general.

If you think otherwise then you're part of the reason why men get such a bad reputation on here.

This isn't the 1970's people. Women deserve as much respect as men. And don't dare think a man can lecture a woman on sexism and misogyny, because that's about the most sexist thing possible!

There are some men on this thread that have quite frankly shown themselves to be crass, insensitive and downright rude.

Shut your stupid, uninformed mouths, you keyboard cavemen.

Don't Cha - performed by Pussycat Dolls

Writer(s)

Anthony Ray

Thomas Callaway

Trevor Smith

The song is a product of misogynist oppressive society that does nothing but objectify women as tools of male sexual gratification.

The sentiment the OP highlights is a symptom of this society. As is the defence of its use.

I've witnessed firsthand both sides of gender oppression. My validity as a female is judged by my conformity to the oppressive gender norms that this song and the sentiment highlighted espouse. That a woman must achieve a high standard of male sexual attraction to be of value.

If any man told me I make his girlfriend look ugly, I'd contact her and tell her how beautiful she is.

Body or slut shaming is never acceptable.

"The definition of misogyny is prejudice against women. I fail to see how saying that someone is more attractive than someone else (admittedly in an unacceptable, rude, obnoxious way) is prejudice against an entire sex? "

i honestly think they are appealing to the shallow nature of women who would find this a compliment, and some would.

my cousin used to go for attached guys as a way of boosting her own ego. she reasoned if someone was attached but wanted to fuck her then she was better than their wife/gf. they never left the wife/gf for her so she was wrong in a way. but she was stunning, very much so, so she probably genuinely was better looking than pretty much anyone's partner.

Of course I can. That would be my choice as mistress of my liberation. But there is a big difference between being the object of someone's desires, and being objectified by strangers and society as a whole.

And as mistress of my sexual liberation, I'd say you're not my type.

i think making women compete over looks is shallow. you see it all the time on here though, who has the biggest boobs, fattest arse, hottest *whatever*, appreciation threads. and many women actually participate in that but it's exactly the same thing.

it might be misogynistic for the reason that women are _educed to looks, but again this site encourages that with it's top fabbed pics and allowing misogynistic topics mentioned above and site members participating in them willingly. anyone sexualising themselves is participating also.

I think we have different ideas of what this site is for. This isn't, to me, a 'public sex site'. I am not here to have sex with any man who requests it.

I am here to meet people who I can have fully consensual and mutually fulfilling sex with. Not provide gratification for the masses.

Lots of the men here are misogynistic - I'm not afraid of saying that. But then, I don't have sex with those men, so I do not believe I'm delusional or have a mental health condition.

"Any woman who feels she is not providing gratification for males or otherwise being on a public sex site and then shouts words like mysogonistic and misandristic is in my opinion delusional, border line fruit the loop even fs.

But then, I don't have sex with those men, so I do not believe I'm delusional or have a mental health condition."

I'd put money on it, that some wee mysogonist on here is having a jolly good chug tae your avatar, profile and words, so in turn you are providing sexual gratification albeit unwillingly.

"Any woman who feels she is not providing gratification for males or otherwise being on a public sex site and then shouts words like mysogonistic and misandristic is in my opinion delusional, border line fruit the loop even fs.

So a woman can't enjoy sexual freedom as a man does?

She must be an object of sexual gratification for others and not mistress of her own sexual liberation?

Oh yes... a woman demanding equal status is a sign of mental illness. Classic.

Can't you be my sexual object and I be yours ?

Of course I can. That would be my choice as mistress of my liberation. But there is a big difference between being the object of someone's desires, and being objectified by strangers and society as a whole.

And as mistress of my sexual liberation, I'd say you're not my type. "

And as I have an opinion it's that your a fool, I didn't ask if I was your type and you don't know me to make that assumption, your talking with your emotion not brain.

"The definition of misogyny is prejudice against women. I fail to see how saying that someone is more attractive than someone else (admittedly in an unacceptable, rude, obnoxious way) is prejudice against an entire sex? "

Misogyny (/m?'s?d??ni/) is the hat_ed of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. Misogyny can be manifested in numerous ways, including social exclusion, sex discrimination, hostility, androcentrism, patriarchy, male privilege, belittling of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification.

I would say that bit about

"belittling of women" hits the nail on the head in this case

it's nothing to do with women 'asking for it' either. it's to do with women pandering to using looks as competition/validation.

by enforcing that your body type/part is attractive you (indirectly) invalidate others looks and place more importance on your own as a sexual favourite.

i'm biased myself. i do think that there are certain people who are not attractive and others who are. is that normal? yes, coz i was brought up under a regime that placed importance on that. is it natural? no, coz everyone has different types and therefore everyone is attractive. i'm well aware of my hypocrisy though, but i never participate in the competitive topics coz they don't actually make sense anyway and are ways for men to try and find their type to sexualise individuals who particpate.

"Any woman who feels she is not providing gratification for males or otherwise being on a public sex site and then shouts words like mysogonistic and misandristic is in my opinion delusional, border line fruit the loop even fs. "

being on a sex site is not the actual problem here. women are allowed to sexualise themselves and, in turn, gratify themselves sexually. and be in control of that (on a compatible level).

when they allow men/others to do that, then that is the problem.

so allowing your pics to be fabbed (and therefore compete sexually with others or allow others to favour you) is a problem. most pics will be being fabbed because someone enjoys that pic for it's attractiveness (although some will fab for reasons other than sexual favouritism).

by participating in topics that ask for certain types of bodies or body parts is similar in that you're promoting certain types as better than others.

is that flattering? sure it is, in a world where we seek validation for shallow things that mean nothing.

it's when you allow anyone but yourself (as a woman) to be in control of your sexuality, that is the problem. and women will participate in these things because we were brought up under patriarchy and taught to value these things (to the detriment of others).

I'd put money on it, that some wee mysogonist on here is having a jolly good chug tae your avatar, profile and words, so in turn you are providing sexual gratification albeit unwillingly.

I'm sure there are. I'm sure some men also do that over my Facebook profile, my twitter profile, and over my university profile.

That doesn't mean I'm mentally ill because I think some men are misogynists.

Properly reading what you reply to will help you with that.

Which bit did I misread?

'Any woman who feels she is not providing gratification for males or otherwise being on a public sex site and then shouts words like mysogonistic and misandristic is in my opinion delusional, border line fruit the loop even fs.'

This bit

Ah. So I'm delusional.

I mean if you're going to be honest it should really read:

'Any woman who feels she is not providing gratification for males or otherwise then shouts words like mysogonistic and misandristic is in my opinion delusional, border line fruit the loop even fs.'

Because some men will wank over you after they've just seen you in the street."

Woman logic right there.

"A compliments a compliment however its delive_ed.

Regardless if its well thought out or not. It's still a compliment.

For the record i wouldnt mind a message saying this. "

even if the person he fucks after you makes you look like shit?"

Hey. Don't expect too much

O o O oo

Trying to pick up a woman this way is not the definition of misogyny. I can't believe that this word is bandied about so much when a man dares to breath

What I do think is...man wants sex, man says what he thinks someone wants to hear to get the sex.

If women believe men mean everything they say then they are very naive

"You're on a site for people to have sex.

I bet* they were stunningly attractive before they turned you down.

*know for certain "

I know for certain too!

Shall we all agree it's one of the more stupid messages someone can send.

And, I've had worse.

"

And trying to manipulate one woman into feeling better because he said "my gf looks like shit next to you" is low class of manipulations, but must be working, if it is used more and more often."

I wouldn't use this kind of "compliment" but you can look at it this way:

One's has a gf that he would normally like (it's rare that you get a gf that you can't stand or are embarassed by her) . She may be the most beautiful for him.

What he is saying is that this most beautiful girl (whether real or imaginary) that likes so much that he never thought he would ever meet a woman prettier that her, is actually so much inferior than you. So you must be out of this world..

Something like that...

People are different. What you like may be disgusting for others and vice versa.

Well. Wrong. It is pick up line used by pick up artist more and more often. (as Interrupted85 mentioned, and as many woman in this thread confirm from their experience)

Pick up lines like pick up lines - can be more or less cheesy. That one I find particularly cheesy and YES misogynist.
