I'm absolutely disgusted at the humans for sale documentary I've just seen on bbc1, the things people will do to other people for money really does know no bounds.

The quicker brexit happens the better fs.

Anyone else watch it?

I read about it in the news.

It is a shame what people do to others for money. However,I have no idea how Brexit will prevent human smuggling.

Unless every person entering/leaving country is checked, followed for a few months to understand what they get upto...smugglers are still going to find a way.

The Brexit comment reminds me of the first time I heard of Nigel Farage.

He was on Question Time. His answer to every question was "...because we are in Europe X, Y, Z is happening in this country.."

You really need to have watched it but to summarise the traffickers go to EU countries like Romania and Slovakia and buy young boys and girls to sell on to gangs in the UK who in turn sell them to get sham marriages to non UK, EU residents who take advantage of the victims EU citizens status to obtain visas, this obviously won't entirely stop after brexit but will at least become less easier and less common, hopefully.

Recently a hotel was raided during a multiple sham marriage ceremony in Belfast, a Romanian/Georgian marriage ring marrying Pakistanis /north Africans for cash so they could gain citizenship.

All the "brides" where benefit sponges living in social housing. They'd basically contributed nothing to the society , not only that , marrying the Highest bidder so they could do the same

It's surprising citizenship can still be achieved this way considering the huge amount of abuse and fraud it potentiates.

Marriage should not automatically equal citizenship.

UK citizens tricked into sex work abroad.

This is sadly true, British born Pakistanis are often married off to Pakistani born brides of grooms to preserve the homogeny of their culture or for advantage like land or financial gain. Probably one of the biggest factors in perpetuating the problems that plague the Asian community and serve to breed problems for wider society.

The commonwealth should be abolished, it has no real advantage for Britain.. it's a patch work of borderline third world nations that largely share no common threads of culture (beyond Canada, NZ or Australia) plagued by too many toxic disadvantaging dogmas to salvage .

Why it's still a going concern in this day and age is puzzling, considering.

It should be phased out and replaced with a trading agreement. It's antiquated relic from a bygone age that opens the gates to too many culturally regressive liabilities that fragment and damage broader social cohesion within? UK society.

i have one these days, i use it to store dust on, getting quite the collection now

try loosing your phone too, i've never gotten so much done since deciding not to have one any more..distracting waste of pocket space

It will probably make it easier for them because they won't be coming in through customs points. You could go to Ireland walk over the boarder into Ulster and get a ferry to Scotland or Liverpool.

So your passport would only have been checked in the republic.
