Not all of them are I came across one a while back who was a super guy though in general its not the most taxing of careers so it does have a few who are....well not the most articulate lets just say that.

Never had a problem with them ,I'm a roofer and so met a few over the years..to be fair they do a dangerous job which is quite an adrenaline rush ...maybe you've met a bad one but there's good and bad in all trades believe

I once met Richard Dunn who by all measure seemed a decent enough bloke..... and if he'd shown himself to be anything other I would've probably just stayed schtum

Not from my side I call them they come out and meet me, we discuss whats intended and being built.

How many tiers is being built if its being fastened to the wall or not

Ive had one young un saying it couldnt be built the way I wanted it built.

His mates pulled him to one side and told him to shut up, knowing that ive had 4 loads of scaffolding built by them.

oh and being 4 floors high and only 2 wall pins in the wall, as the wall needed pointing done.

is kinda fun when it rocks and moves a little.

safe but gives some people the shakes though ive seen some go green 2 floors up.

As for it being a job for halfwits it's not. There's a lot goes into it, think of all the Health & Safety stuff they have to know.

And it's really hard physical work too.

The ones who put the scaffolding up for my new UPVC in my old house were ok, cheeky, but ok.

I didn't know they had a bad rep generally.

I have thing for builders so i might have overlooked any bad points as they shimmied the pipes.

For those asking

I'm a telehandler

And fairly new to it

And still making mistakes and fairly slow

Every other trade are being very thoughtful and not putting me under pressure

Apart from scaffolders

Tutting

Headshaking

Even had a company gaffer on the phone shouting at me about my pace

Btw

I think domestic scaffolders are more customer facing therefore need to be polite as opposed to commercial

Don't know but I'm getting really pissed off with workmen! The last 3 people for various jobs have disappeared on me. Why would you go to someone's house quote them for a job agree a price then not reply to a customer after them sending texts asking if the jobs still on. Bloody annoying!
