Thinking about getting a hot tub advice please

Saw some hot tubs in a shop today. Now we've always fancied one but thought you had to pay thousands The ones we saw today were all under £600. Has anybody got one of the inflatable type (these had no seats) do they represent good value for money, how noisy are they, are they expensive to run & do they require a lot of maintenance? The other thing that would concern us is if the water was removed would it be an easy target for thieves?

We have a big garden so space isn't a problem but would need to consider some screening for privacy & security as we're a little overlooked!

Any advice or recommendations greatly received. Thanks.

We've got a lazy spa and love it. You need to test and keep an eye on the water quality but that's dip strips alongside chemicals that you get from the store. Ours stays up and full all summer so can't be stolen. Regarding running costs we have solar so it's free. It heats up by about 2 degrees per hour so takes a while to get to temperature.

Thanks. 2 degrees per hour that means you'd have to switch it on the day before you wanted to use it, thought they'd heat up in a couple of hours!!

Only the first time. They're insulated so keep the heat over night then we put it on every morning so it's ready to use in the evening.

We have also put ours on insulation panels which helps to keep the heat in

My bed.. But I'd sooner be in yours.

i have a hot tub a six seater it does only take a couple of hours to heat up on the mains ,, and it runs all year round , the inflatable ones dont keep the heat as there is no insulation and not for year round use and watch out for cats my mates cat has just burst theres ,, lol

you do need to keep on top of the water chemical levels and recommend you dip test every day ,,

They do take a long time to heat up and certainly spin the electric meter round. Bought ours in France last year around 600 euro, havn't used it at all this year.

Yes I'm sure the solid ones are better, but couldn't pick one up from a store & put it in the back of my car. They maybe a fraction of the new price but still expensive.

You get what you pay for.

It's no good buying a cheap one if it's a heap of shit.

Pay a bit more = get a bit more = better quality.

Have you considered a wood fired hot tub? We've not looked into it properly yet but a had a quick look and they aren't too expensive to buy new. If it's not on the electric then running costs may be lower? I just need to stop thinking of it as a big cook pot

takes between 6-12 hours to warm up to the right temperature but once it's reached 40 it's doesn't drop below much if used regularly. We love ours x

we boxed ours in. No cats cats touch it
