Not wishing to sound too deep and meaningful (there's too much of that this morning). But the mistakes I made made me what I am now, and I think I'm a good man.

However, I should have said yes to a 3some. Stupid stupid boy. .

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

The only thing I would tell my 18 year old self to change might result in me not having what I have now, so I wouldn't bother. OK, I would have maybe had an easier life, but there are some things that are worth the struggle.

Don't marry that man!

Well, I'd like to say it would be to tell myself not to get married (I was only 19 on my wedding day!) but then I wouldnt have my two crazy children...although I do often wonder what my life would have been like if I hadn't have gone through with it.

Put half of what you earn every month in a savings account.

I was young and in the RAF, spent every penny on booze and ciggies. Could have spent half and had an equally good time and saved enough to nearly pay for my first house outright. Instead I bought when I couldn't really afford to and put us through years of stress because we were on the breadline for most of it.

I made a lot of mistakes. So many. But I ended up in a great place.

I guess I would say to ask for what say really want. The worst thing that can happen is that people can say no.

But if you don't ask for what you really want, the best thing that can happen is that you don't get what you really want

To stop being so hung up on what other people think of you and trying to live up to other people's expectations. To stop obsessing about what others have and what you don't have and make the best and enjoy what you do have. Advice that I still struggle with to this day though.

this is what makes us all different in some way i often think back in time and thou some of the times were routes I,d rather not gone on I realise how times have changed and i certainly could,nt go back on them routes again because they would,nt be there to follow but for me its been a mixed bag if i had counted back the years as now when i was 18 it would have been 1935 so different in many ways but depending on your position a lot harder life and with a war comeing up i looked at my parents and how they dealth with those times and their parents before them dealth with theirs and todays generations even mine bring up their kids differently for different circumstances obviously like my next door neibours... its just that i don,t know anything different but the way i was brought up going away annually on holiday or holidays because we could mainly in the uk so yes i was from a close family if not for the internet i doubt i would talk in such expressive terms perhaps at that time in my life where I,m happy to do so more and more thou I,m a long long way from book makeing material...
