Run this by me again..... Jurassic coast is Dorset.... Whitby is N Yorks!

My fave has to be good old Blackpool if you want traditional resort.

Otherwise I like places like Looe and other smaller Cornish resorts.

Goodness, that takes me back.

My extended family all live in Sheffield, and when I was around two or three, my favourite auntie and uncle would randomly take me and their four kids - all between 15 and eight years older than me - for a day trip there.

I love Salcombe in Devon and all around there. The South Hams in general. I'm hoping to stay on Burgh Island in the hotel where Agatha Christie stayed and they filmed Poirot. It's stunning.

have to say southend is like a geek cool... especially when all the kids in their kitted out cars use to do the circuit on a saturday night...

I used to go to Brighton as a kid, and loved it. We went a couple of years ago and we were shocked at how crappy it has become. There was scaffolding everywhere and nobody working on it, loads of different kinds of waste bins all over the pavements and the city centre seems to be full of homeless beggars and nutcases (apologies to the mentally ill). It all looked tired and a bit sad.

Scarborough for fond childhood memories, we went most years. I went last year for a day first time in 20 years and still liked it. Tenby is the one I like these days though, walled town,good beach, good restaurants and pubs.

I love Weymouth and Tenby.

Went to Brighton for the first time last October and was really disappointed, I'd always wanted to go and just did nothing for me.

Just booked to go to Cornwall for the first time in August, so really looking forward to exploring there.

Blackpool. Blue flag beaches, great shopping and modern sea front. They have a great airshow and plenty things to do. I never get bored of it.

I like Scarborough and Whitby, Paignton and Torquay, but Blackpool is my ultimate fave.

I prefer Scarborough to Whitby, however neither compare to the beaches in Devon and Cornwall.

We are very lucky to have so much coastline in the UK. Some beautiful beaches.

I love Whitby but as so many others do it can get quite cramped on occasion.

For me, I'd have to say South Wales Pembrokeshire area.....lots of tiny little villages on the coast....very idyllic and very underrated

Cirencester

Exmouth Beach is quite a nice beach as its only a couple miles long and close to town. Bournemouth is clean beach. But you can't beat the Cornish coast.

Its not really anything special infact its just plain and boring but its peaceful and i have lost of childhood memories from there my grandad had his own hotel in margate so wed often stay there and visit joss bay and have dinner in the resturant on the cliff

Yeah, I knew the Gower well as I'm from one of the towns in Wales mentioned regularly in this thread. Hadn't been to Rhosilli in years.

I read all all this stuff about it being a top 10/top 50 beach in world. I thought it was over the top, but I was genuinely bowled over. Gorgeous spot.

Shhhhh - don't tell people. Every now and then there's a Sunday Supplement or website saying "Pembrokeshire is the new Cornwall".

Place gets overrun with well-meaning, but annoyingly "perfect" families in their 4x4s. They go banging on about how they've "discovered" it, as if they were some Victorian explorer finding a new tribe in the depths of the Andes.

I do love them (and their endless quest for cliff-top, alfresco vegan cafeshacks) really.

Llandudno, two beautiful beaches on opposite sides of a narrow strip of land to you get lovely sunrises and sunsets....and a wonderful row of old shops, a nature-rich headland and some great apartments for rent on airbnb....but no swingers club nearby unfortunately m x
