My grandad taught me the piano and my two sisters when I was 8 years old. God quite good at it but he couldn't afford the professional fees for all of us so my older sister got to grade 6 with the help of a piano teacher but would have loved to have continued with lessons

Pretty much self taught. I like being a bit of a tit on those public pianos they have in shopping malls. Cool when you get a round of applause. If a bit embarrassing

Piano, guitar and violin. I used to teach the piano and was pianist for a male octet. Used to travel with them at weekends. I was 13...can't imagine that happening nowadays.

That said, I've not touched any instruments since I started a family: my eldest is 34!
