"i was just looking at a profile and it got me thinking. they stated they are proffesionals and only meet proffesionals. now thats all well and good but the profile was littered with spelling mistakes and text speak. i would assume a proffesional is someone who is a high earner which usually would be coupled with a high level of intelligence. before anyone asks i am a high earner and must have high intelligence as i manage a team of engineers that on some jobs equates to 60 people. but i class myself as common as muck " Speaking as a stanch opponent of the spelling police ....... I cant help cracking a simile at the irony of someone using the word professional an a selling point having an inability to even spell the word

"Don't worry about them attacking your spelling. It means you got to them. I wouldn't? meet anyone who uses their job as an advertisement of worthiness. Block." good point. So can anyone clear this up and tell me exactly what constitutes being a professional

So can anyone clear this up and tell me exactly what constitutes being a professional" I'm sure I could make a bloody good stab at it, but to be honest my interest waned when the thread started getting unnecessarily shirty...... To me any response to a topic should be welcomed as long it's not a personalised attack and remains within forum rules .....

It just sounded like you were taking the piss out of people saying they were professional when they're profiles were littered with spelling mistakes.

Op, if you really wanted to know I'm sure a bright spark like you would have checked out the other zillion inverted snobbery, oh I mean "professional" threads that appear every 48 hours. I would say anyone who didn't know what professional meant was as thick as shit, there, I said it.

"We use the word "professional" in our profile, only in the context that we're busy people with limited time. Should we remove it in the worry that people are going to base an entire judgment on a word? " Not at all, it's your profile and if someone takes offence then all they have to do is move on. At the end of the day writing professional, suggests you have a career and busy life that matters outside FAB.

I'll never understand why people get so angry about one word people use to describe themselves. You don't have to justify how you describe yourself.

"I think there's a lot of professional taxi drivers, shop assistants, factory workers and agency staff on here. There must be 80% who have a job state they're professionals. " We had a management meeting earlier. 1st topic of discussion: transgender policy. The next agenda item was a staff retention initiative entitled 'Thinking about a change?'
