Geeks & Nerds Unite!

Nerd or Geek isn't a search option on here, wish it was though.

I am a bit of a nerd and geek - nothing like those guys and girls on the big bang theory (thankfully) and I dare say most of you aren't either.

Just wanted to make a forum post for people to nerd & geek out to their hearts content.

We are collectors of games consoles (70+) and handhelds. Pride of place for me is the Japan only release PSX (not the Playstation if you know your consoles). A's favourite is probably the Panasonic Q or the Yaroze PS2 dev kit.

People assume I (R) being male is the collector in the relationship but A had more consoles than me when we got together. She's been the driving force.

A also collects horror films and is doing a good job of getting every horror video game going (Clock Tower is her favourite).

I also have a fetish for Star Destroyer models. I've got a 4 foot long Super Star Destroyer in the process of building.

Etmologies are the best.

l love languages.

l love how you can get the ''polar'' effect with etymologies. Like the Scots word ''greet'' and the English one had the same root meaning but are taken to mean the polar opposite. Same with black and blanco.

The coolest one l found was the old Scots word from the Celtic for chimney. ''Lum'' Chimneys are smokey and dark yet the latin ''lumen'' means ''light''

Other 2000AD classics are Rogue Trooper, Slaine, Nemesis and Halo Jones

You forgot Tank Girl and Indigo Prime

ABC warriors, Shako....."

Sheesh! Come on nerds!

Spawn is Image comics, Tank Girl was Deadline (and is now IDW I think...)

F.E.A.R. Agents by Rick Remender (image comics) is a great sci fi if you're looking for something new..."

Definitely this!

Loved it. ITV never purchased the entire season so a cliffhanger episode remained unresolved with Bob stuck in the Web

The creators of it did the Dire Straits video Money for Nothing.

Ok, seems like I can vent here.

Why the fuck does Bor Gullet only get one paragraph on wookiepedia?! Just look at the thing!! Could no one even just make something up to say about it?!

Does it just have the brief appearance in Rogue One?... that might be the reason

But it's Star Wars!! They can give Wicket the Ewok a middle name and a 10,000 word biography but come up with nothing for the telepathic tentacle creature?!

Don't mind me, I'm the kid that was far happier playing with the Tusken Raider figure than any Skywalker's or Stormtroopers
