Tolkien said himself that Sam is the hero whereas Frodo is merely the protagonist. Sam begins his journey because of a promise and it ended it with love. He knew that he was going to die and still pushed himself to succeed in his love for his land through literally carrying the biggest burden there is. By the way, how gutted are you about Tom Bombadil not making it to screen?

"For pure unadulterated fun, it's a toss up between Blues Brothers and Rocky Horror (the original). For cinematographic excellence, Bladerunner. However, there's only one film that has ever genuinely effected me physically, and that is Se7en..........what's in the box? " All excellent films!! Se7en was pretty gruesome for its time considering it was presented as a thriller rather than a horror, even though most of the horror element was actually left to your own imagination... The Bone Collector was somewhat similar in that way...

Little do they realise that ROTK is amazing as it can easily act as a stand alone movie as well as the conclusion of the trilogy. no denying helms deeps a great battle but rotk is better overall for me, & it has it's share of big set piece battles too. It was my favourite book of the trilogy too & highlights that Sam is the real hero. Sorry, I'm a bit of a geek for Tolkien. Lol Shut up, so am I!!! I have Tengwar tattooed on my wrist. Tolkien said himself that Sam is the hero whereas Frodo is merely the protagonist. Sam begins his journey because of a promise and it ended it with love. He knew that he was going to die and still pushed himself to succeed in his love for his land through literally carrying the biggest burden there is. By the way, how gutted are you about Tom Bombadil not making it to screen?very gutted. But happy to see a young lady such as yourself showing such enthusiasm about classic literature. I explore all areas of time through literature, scripts, theatre, films and music. To be fair, although Tolkien is an instant classic for redefining modern fantasy, he is still considered to be contemporary.won't argue with that. My own son, and nephews all love it Anything written in the past 200 years is considered contemporary apparently Really? Didn't know that. Not sure I agree. Personally I would say 50 years, but oh well!" That would definitely seem more realistic

"I always say the same film...can I mix it up and just mention another in my top five???? Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is my all time favourite but I feel I have said it so much in these threads that most people on the forums know hahalove it. Best of the three Not many people agree with that unfortunately. They all go for Two Towers because of the Battle of Helms Deep. "Man On Fire - best film in the world ever Blackhawk down - because it was a true story (the book was so much better though) Funniest scene in a film has got to be in Bridesmaids, where Melissa McCarthy was talking about falling off the ship and was 'communicating' with a dolphin. Laughed so much I forgot to breathe! 8 Below - because I love huskies, and it makes me cry John Wick - 'cos he's the bloke the bogey man is scared of" Oh! Hacksaw Ridge has got to be up there too.
