If I had to pick just one...then Shawshank would get another mention

There are so many others that I can and have watched over and over ranging from the sheer escapism of The Italian Job, to historical dramas like Zulu or Gladiator...or action movies like Die Hard, Under Siege, Dirty Harry's or Terminators 1 & 2...that's without even mentioning The Green Mile, Silence Of The Lambs, Schindlers List or the original Star Wars trilogy

....but for sheer quality Shawshank would get my vote every time

no denying helms deeps a great battle but rotk is better overall for me, & it has it's share of big set piece battles too. It was my favourite book of the trilogy too & highlights that Sam is the real hero. Sorry, I'm a bit of a geek for Tolkien. Lol

Tolkien said himself that Sam is the hero whereas Frodo is merely the protagonist. Sam begins his journey because of a promise and it ended it with love. He knew that he was going to die and still pushed himself to succeed in his love for his land through literally carrying the biggest burden there is.

All excellent films!! Se7en was pretty gruesome for its time considering it was presented as a thriller rather than a horror, even though most of the horror element was actually left to your own imagination...

The Bone Collector was somewhat similar in that way...

The film that really 'got' under my skin was 'Life Is Beautiful'. Maybe you have to be a parent to properly appreciate the premise but it's amazing.
