There are however cash machines availble for use should you require to take money out of your account. Some of these now allow you to deposit cash and cheques as well. And of course there is also online banking. Hope this helps. | |||

Some people do still pay cash in, but it's a minority. Having worked in banking for many years and involved in branch closures, the banks don't think about these customers, it's all about profits and keeping shareholders happy. | |||

I use online banking and my account is so hard to get into I'm surprised they don't ask for a blood and saliva sample every time I log on. " Many people don't trust on line banking(good program on bbc 1 at moment, about scams). But on the whole, it is safe as long as you are vigilant and don't give out personal details. The thing is with large amounts of cash, you have to be careful that there are no forgeries, have seen this many times. | |||

When I was still in banking, if people were paying large amounts of cash in, they would be interviewed by a senior member of staff. Contactless makes spending even easier."i never for a moment thought banks introduced theses systems for our convenience...a bank is a business like any other and their aim is to make a profit so anything to make spending that much easier works for them i guess, sold to us under the guise of convenient banking designed for the customer. i never understood the need for a third party to have anything to do with my money anyhow...i do a job for someone then who the hell are the banks? why does the transaction between me and the person who owes me money need to involve this third party anyhow? what do they do for me? they hold my money and make a profit of investing it but who are they? why do i need to involve them in my affairs? it's a needless link in the chain i don't get or understand. | |||

Unfortunately the town we bank in has a high incidence of pick pockets and muggings, sad but true, if someone nicks your cash, it's gone, if someone nicks your bank card, you can cancel it. I'm sure he'll be fine. "it's probably an out dated way of thinking really but it's always worked nicely for me so far so it's what i know i guess. the only time i've had problems accessing my money has been thanks to banks so i'm more mis trusting of them than i am of my own ability to look after money. i suppose that's just the sum total of my own experience but it's done me ok thus far and i doubt i'll change much! | |||

He is obviously vulnerable at his age and in a town where we have these problems, but I'm not going to change him now. I suppose it will take a nasty incident, God forbid, for him to realise . Sound like I'm preaching, sorry, but I have seen the fallout from people having bad experiences, using cash. Must learn to switch off, have been retired for some years now | |||
