Ok, so I love to cook ma own meals, whether it be a Shepherd's Pie, a curry, or a full on Sunday roast. I've even baked a loaf of bread and baked several cakes.

As a man, would you even consider making a trifle though, or is that strictly a woman's domain

stick to what you know unless you have an adventurous streak then trifle you must!

Yeah, but it's gotta be pink though, with custard & cream on top with hundreds & thousands on top and some of those little silver balls as well

Couldn't bring myself to make a trifle I'm afraid OP.

Mainly because I can't stand them, but also because I just don't get it as a dessert, there are far more enjoyable puds out there in my opinion, like a blueberry cheesecake

If you're doing it properly you need to forget the hundreds and thousands and use glacé cherries and angelica!

I do all the cooking at home so yes I would have no problem with that.

But

I'm not great at baking. I made a pigs ear of the first few loaves I made and so I avoid it like the plague

My Dad used to make trifle, he was very particular about how a 'proper' trifle should be.

He was quite the dinosaur as I was growing up (cooking was women's work

), but late in life discovered a flair for baking and even did a couple of baking courses.

Getting married simply saved me from washing up.

I bought a dishwasher.

Make a gin and tonic trifle so soak the sponge fingers in gin. And have a swig whilst making it. You'll make a most excellent trifle.

I love making trifle and its stupidly easy

Good layer of lady fingers

Put on two drained cans of fruit cocktail (in juice not syrup)

Cover with strawberry jelly then leave to set til firm

Whisk two packets of strawberry angel delight and pour over the set jelly, let it firm up a bit in the fridge and whisk double cream until its thick but spreadable and top off the trifle!

Finish with hundreds and thousands!

If you dont like custard this will honestly change your mind ln trifle!

You've got to train him properly then. Stews are easy to do, especially in a slow cooker.

Thanks for responding sorry for being tardy...fresh yeast.

Sounds like your not proving it enough...also opening and closing oven doors can cause breads to collapse due to the rush of air when ya close the door..most likely proving issues tho
