I'm truly still amazed at how many people think it's normal or appealing to have a filthy/ messy etc background in their pictures. Surely I can't be the only person to notices? Aren't pictures on an online site not one of the biggest opening impressions we give about ourselves?

One of my pet hates too. I nearly always look at the surroundings in a picture, it can say so much about the person in it x

I don't tidy for a picture, that's what the cropping tool is for.

Brighton - even Hove!

I look at the backgrounds and zoom in to see smoking paraphernalia on non smokers, American plug sockets on an alleged place in Portsmouth, family photos, kids toys, beers cans in overflowing bins. You name it - they grub around in it.

On the plus side. .at least they are honest pics. I guess what you see is what you get. ..and people are always going on about how important honesty is.

I get rid of the mess by sticking pictures car, balloon, art gallery, fireplace mirror etc, backgrounds in my pictures instead or just use lighting and vignettes

Very true. In equal measures though it's not just mess, I also detest the cock shot next to a beer can or sky remote. Also non appealing in my book.

A picture paints a thousand words!

I like to look at fingernails and toes....dirty? Ewwww

Above few items of clothing on the floor is fine, but as others have said, a grimy background can reveal a lot.

I could imagine that there are items on the bedside table that would have many of the more weirder elements of the site in raptures !! Probably the ones who are in the stained sheet, takeaway boxes, clothes covered floor, beer can sizing type of member....

Cock shots next to an unflushed toilet are always a good look!

Been a few like that over the years.

Haha I was just going to mention that one! 'Right live just had a piss and now for a nice cock shot for all my fab friends' lol!

Another one is seeing Backgrounds where they are clearly kids bedrooms. The kids have been packed off for the night and their room is being used as some kind of sex denn While they are away. Just doesn't sit right with me.

Hotel rooms are always a good backdrop, they are usually tidy (when you first arrive at least! ) and have neutral decor and can be good for some great pics.

Righto, I'm off for piss and to take a pic of me knob while I'm there

I must say I prefer a raw pic like a pic the was a spare of the.moment and not planned.

Don't get me wrong pics where people are dressed up ECT and have made a real effort are good but I'd prefer to see a real pic if you get what i mean

Are you saying that a naturally untidy person should create a picture that isn't really them?

Just block them as part of the filtering process..

Unfortunately not everyone has this as their first thought....

I admit when I first joined with hubby on our couples profile ours weren't fantastic but you live and learn I guess.
