Metalhead here too.

Listening to a lot of Doom Metal lately. Electric Wizzard are really doing it for me at the moment.

I'm also in the process of writing and recording a Doom concept album based on the story of The Green Children of Woolpit.

Haha, no ballad I'm afraid but there is an acoustic medieval-ish sounding folk/trad tune in there.

Never really rated Pantera until Donington in 96, watched from the fringes and when they played "Walk" the place went mad!

Not really had the chance to discover new stuff but lately I have been re-discovering some old gems.

Smashing Pumpkins (the original band)

Tool

Marilyn Manson

I must take some time to get down with the kids sometime.

There is a lot of great music across genres.

One band I don't understand the hype for is Babymetal, each to their own and I'm not slagging them off,but I really don't get what it is with them

As for recommendations,if you like loud angry shouty metal then Feed The Rhino are well worth a listen, been following them since their very early days. The singer Lee Tobin is a really nice dude too.

Check out Skyclad if you like your metal pagan and folky. "

I've listened to a couple of tracks and whilst they are right up my street I'd describe them more as folk punk than metal. Awesome addition to my library though

"Metalhead here too.

Listening to a lot of Doom Metal lately. Electric Wizzard are really doing it for me at the moment.

I'm also in the process of writing and recording a Doom concept album based on the story of The Green Children of Woolpit."

ive liked the electric wizzard material ive heard, need to delve into them a bit more. been listening to a fair bit of doom influenced stuff this last year. Windhand, Messa, Oranssi pazuzu have been my favourites.

Other modern rock I like is Gnod and The Icarus Line (sadly just split)

Old stuff i like The Stooges/Iggy Pop, Sabbath, Hawkwind, Motörhead, Janes Addiction, Faith No More (just angel dust really) I like a lot of 70's krautrock too but that encompasses a lot of genres, (electronic, folk, ambient) the rockin' stuff (Early Can, Neu!, Amon Duul) is my favourite though.

Tend to go for the more pyschedelic side of rock/metal tbh.

On the shoulders of a security guard? That really impressed us because there's not many performers have the balls to do that!

Airborne are a great AC/DC tribute band in my eyes, not a huge fan of their music but their shows are great once or twice.

Was also there at ramblin man fair and BSC nailed it, even though half of their gear didn't turn up and they had problems with no sound through the guitar during the rambler meaning Chris sung acapella to god knows how many thousands of people. True live rock and roll at its best

I went to see Black Stone Cherry in November and it was honestly one of the greatest gigs I've ever been to. The first half if the set was acoustic and it blew me away. It took me a little while to get into the latest album Kentucky, but there were 2 songs on there I loved instantly. The Rambler and Shakin my Cage.

I've seen the mighty Meat Loaf live a fair few times and I feel genuinely lucky to say so.

Seen Toseland at a couple of festivals, lot of fun live.

Was at Wembley Arena for both Black Stone Cherry tours. Loved every minute.

If you thought Joel was mad on the Black Stone Cherry tour, saw Airborne at Sonisphere and he was climbing scaffolding in the pouring rain to play a guitar solo up in the rafters.

Wasnt that kentucky tour brilliant? Possibly the best gig I've been to. They have changed a lot with folklore being their best album and between the devil their worst for me. They have had a rough time with record labels and now they are out they are free to right what they feel and kentucky shows they did just that.

Don't forget every band has to do something different from their last record, especially to make a long term career out of it. A good example of this is Thunder, if you was to play me a song off their latest record I honestly couldn't tell you what album it was from, all 11 albums are great and they have done very well, but they don't excite the new generation, the oldies who have followed them from day 1 love them but the younger people don't get excited by it and is a big reason why the true meaning of rock music is fading

"

I feel like Black Stone Cherry have slipped a bit recently. Used to love them, their older stuff especially, but dunno what it is, just not that big a fan.

I think I felt that they just got a bit samey, so stopped paying attention to them haha.

Oh god Meatloaf, thats something I'm jealous of!

A good example of this is Thunder, if you was to play me a song off their latest record I honestly couldn't tell you what album it was from, all 11 albums are great and they have done very well, but they don't excite the new generation, the oldies who have followed them from day 1 love them but the younger people don't get excited by it and is a big reason why the true meaning of rock music is fading "

I'm not quite 'youth' at 30, but I've seen thunder.

"Metalhead here too.

Listening to a lot of Doom Metal lately. Electric Wizzard are really doing it for me at the moment.

I'm also in the process of writing and recording a Doom concept album based on the story of The Green Children of Woolpit."

Electric Wizard are cool...

I likes what I like.. dont think there is any sheepiness in the rock culture really ! Liking something heavier than another doesnt equate to that!

It's got nothing to do with being "sheep" who gives a fuck if the band's we like are mainstream? If we like the music we like the music. Got nothing to do with being sheep at all.

"I am so metulz no one listens to the band's I listen to. RAWK"
