Childish Customers

After watching a video on customer freakouts on YouTube, it made me ask myself, why do some customers think it's ok to scream, shout and threaten the staff to get what they want?

It's crazy how they would resort to this kind of childish behaviour when their patience is waring thin. It just shows that they haven't grown up, doesn't it?

Or the staff have monumentally shit customer service. I think it's more indicative of the lack of general politeness and consideration in today's society.

they probably don't have any spare cash. it's stressful being poor and if someone rips you off you might feel validated to scream at them.

some people are just stroppy dicks and can't control themselves also.

Shoping in Toys r us in December can try the most mild mannered people; its akin to doing the obstacle course from Krypton Factor with a trolley, and if you make it to the finish line you are rewarded with one till being open and operated by the work experience boy whilst anyone one else employed by Toys r us stands around watching the carnage unfold.

I agree that some places can have bad customer service but some customers can have really bad attitudes and have a tantrum when things don't go their way.

Is it because they're having a bad day or is it because they're assholes who who enjoy getting a kick out of doing this to get what they want?

Ah joys of working with the general public.Glad I got out if retail once I finished uni tho we did get some real nice customers.

One guy who wanted a refund as the item was faulty sent his wife in who just stood there shouting and screaming at the top of her voice.

He did looked rather embarrassed when we told them that the batteries needed to be charged first.....

I work in retail and believe me its hard to smile and be nice to someone who speaks to me like im a piece of shit.. respect is given both ways.. some people leave their manners at the door

A few years ago u was accosted by a d*unk abusive woman in the reception of my office. I told her that I wasn't willing to be spoken to like that in my place of work. She missed the point I was making and response with "well come outside then I'll call you a fuckin cunt out there instead"

20th of march i was prescribed an urgent prescription. It was faxed to my doctor. 5 re issues, a call from me, my nurse, the pharmacist and a trip to the surgery in person and i finally got it last week. I was ready to kill

Working in retail I feel well experienced and informed to comment. I have had experience of both good and bad interactions with customers. As a retailer we don't always get it right but often the person you take that out on on the shop floor has no influence on making the changes that you might require. Ask to speak to the store manager and follow that up with an email to the company's customer service dept. Customer facing representatives are there to discuss and help with your purchases and complaints regarding them. Unfortunately there are in all retail environments good and bad customer service advisors. Most company's have an online feedback where you can rate the service you've received. This is the most effective way of making the changes you want to see both in the service level also the store environment and shopping experience. So don't throw those slips of paper in the bin.

Often found its the customer that shouts and swares the loudest would get there own way, even when not entitled, this is normal due to the upper management not having the gumption to back up the staff and being worried about the feed back scores (that they earn bonuses on), its the quiet meek mild mannered people just ended up being fobbed off.

Some customers also see shop staff as easy targets that are there to be abused.

I worked in a well known high street store doing security for a well known security company who had this 'zero tollerance' police with abuse to staff.

I was stood by customer services, just after xmas, where all the kick offs tend to happen.

So this guy finally gets to the front of the line. Puts his stuff on the counter and says

'about fucking time'

'Out'

I used to work in a call centre for a broadcasting company and the amount of abuse I had was phenomenal! I've been called everything under the sun, and that was at the start of the call what people don't understand, is that if you want something from someone, it's alot easier if you be nice to them

my daughter used to mock my 'shopjob' as she called it that i fitted in around school hours - then she worked a few years in new look - saturday job and the school/uni holidays - made her realise how rude some people are and now makes a point of being really nice to retail staff -
