I have my first meet tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous. What do you do to calm the nerves? X

East Sussex

Anything you do to calm the nerves will also dull your enjoyment. Deep, slow breaths and a big smile will help.

Have a great time.

"First meet?"

With a man I meant, sorry didn't explain properly. My verifications are from two women I met over the weekend on a social.

Listen to loud music in the car on the way there.

And quietly shit myself (not literally, thankfully).

Nervousness and excitement are the same physiologically it just depends how we view it. If we see it as nervousness it can get the better of us as the physiological symptoms increase as we think about it. However if we view it as excitement we can control that better because our thoughts are positive. Think how exciting it is rather than about how nervous you feel.

Traffic land

I get just as nervous for a meet now as I did the first time. I take it as a sign that it's something I'm really in to and want to go well.

Enjoy

I still get really nervous meeting someone new. I turn the music up loud on my way and have a little sing to say to myself i obviously liked them enough to arrange it so it should be good!

Hope you have a great night x

Take your time getting ready while listening to your favourite tunes, and have your favourite drink! (Which in my case would be a gin and tonic with a slice of fresh lime). That always calms my nerves and gets me excited Have fun!
