No harm in opening up, maybe having a little cry every now and again. It lets the boo-hoos out!

"I love a man who's prepared to own his emotions....especially a hot one! "

How often is he going to trot this out?

Don't get me wrong, when my son died I sought counselling. When my daughter had a psychotic breakdown at 15 we moved heaven and earth to get her the help she needed.

The first time he spoke about it my heart went out to him, but to me, somehow, the frequency of telling comes across as a little self indulgent.

I'm not a big fan of having a royal family. But whilst we do have one, it's good to see them being useful.

Any high profile male talking openly in this way is great.

We need to break the macho silence that blokes think is the manly way to deal with things.

It's the first I have heard and I thoroughly approve. And of it helps other men face their suppressed emotion, well then I hope he 'trots it out' ad infinitum!

It's a big thing with the young princes, William has just been on in a similar vein. They mean well but it's easy to express your feelings when it's not potentially going to affect your job or lifestyle.

It's the first I've heard about it too. In fact, in the interview he states that he buried his emotions when his Mum died. From what I thought, this was the first time he's sought help.

To be fair, he was very young, and the whole event was turned into a world-wide circus. He was probably not given the space, privacy or opportunity to process it all. Nor, I suspect, was he allowed to show any emotion. All the trappings of royalty, but not what he needed.

So, good on him. And, if by sharing his story, he encourages other men to seek help, or even makes one suicidal person re-think that course of action, then good for him. Bravo.

My mum died when I was 6. Took me until my early 30's to seek counselling and deal with it.

"I honestly don't know why everyone has to talk so much about their problems."

Sometimes, often, it is the only way people can properly come to terms with them and move on. Harry is sharing after 22 years of silence on the matter to try to help others find some help for their own suppressed emotion (in association with a mental health charity campaign on the subject). I think that's a very good thing.

I think it's a good thing too. He's always been very private; this is a massively personal thing to share with the world.

Must be horrendous to lose your mum at a young age but to lose a mum that the world thinks they know/ 'own' too must be so much worse.

Not counselling, mostly to the media in this instance. I understand it can help others, but nothing seems personal these days.

I think it was for him until this week, but yes, a lot of people do find it cathartic even on social media!
