Hotel meeting

I'm curious about something now why is it when you get asked to meet someone they expect you to pay for the hotel room for instance I got a message from a man asking if I'd like to meet a couple with him but would have to contribute half the money for the room don't understand that is it me being stupid or not

They're not asking you to pay for the room, just a share of it. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. I don't entirely understand why the couple aren't contributing too though.

That doesn't seem fair. I don't mind contributing but I don't get why they expect you to contribute half when 4 of you will be there

The bloke excepted me to say yes and meet and give him the money then see the couple but the couple never would pay so it's a free room for them for the night

If we're invited to a hotel meet we'd expected it to be paid for.

If we invited someone we'd pay for it.

If it was a joint decision to get a hotel we'd pay half.

If whoever were meeting is staying the night we'd expect them to pay. And the same if we ended up staying.

It sounds dubious,to put it mildly. he's essentially appointed himself as some sort of pimpish intermediary for a couple you have no direct contact with or even a profile to review as a base of reference that would in some way vouch for their existence.

We'd split it four ways (we pay half) which is paying your way in our book. We wouldn't meet on the terms you've been asked.

I don't...I always book the hotel and pay, never ask for a contribution. That way it's my choice, my room, I control the meet, I stay overnight and the guy leaves when I want him too
