I used to be quite religious but sadly I lost my faith.

All of the above....there are some sexy ladys attend my church...and one very cheeky one esp that dresses to impress..i sat just up from her the a few times and she is such a tease...pencil skirt and stocking..deffo keeps ur attention focused..

It's more about losing my faith. Also, Christian celebrations are just focused around money. I hate Christmas and Easter. Not many celebrate them for the real purposes.

I don't know why but my skin starts to badly itch and burn when I go near a church. To this day you can still see the burn mark scars on the top of my head suffered during my christening where the holy water touched my skin. Mum always said the vicar was horrified, took to drink and never practised again following it.

Sounds like you are looking for your faith again?

I'm not sure that churches see celebrations as money-orientated. I think that that is more society and commercial sectors...

I'm in my church. I can see the blue sky, hear the birds and the river running.

The only other noises are my feet on the path and my breathing.

Okay, I won't be silly I'll be serious and with that will you let me ask an honest heartfelt question?

By saying to the above postee what you did are you saying a church that allows you to do and be who you like? Because surely the church should not be a mirror to society otherwise, to me, religion has no validity. It is not for the church to change to embrace our proclivities but for us to follow God's doctrine, isn't it?

I used to go to church regularly as a teen, of my own choice, and really found a peace there. I stopped going for a variety of reasons including not being able to get answers to a couple of questions. Although I'm not massively religious, getting back into regular church going is something that I keep mulling over, for me and my children.

i used to be fairly religious,, but when i moved to N Ireland it killed it for me.

Everything was forced.. i had to do a GCSE in Religious Studies..

I like churches for their pretty architecture.

I loathe the 'church' as an institution founded in fearmongering and fairy tales.

That being said, if all of the world's religious institutions paid taxes and those taxes were spent on eradicating world hunger then I'd be much more supportive of them

Absolutely not.

Last time I attended was for a christening, I'm no fan of any religion and felt a huge hypocrite but I couldn't say no to our friends when asked to be godfather.

I hated every minute of it, felt uncomfortable and tried to avoid repeating what was asked without being noticed.

Again, massive hypocrite but i went through it for them. Funnily enough they've never been back to church since the christening.....

Can I applauded your honesty and say you've hit the nail on the head, "never been back". So called religious types get all pious and pompous a couple of times a year but don't actually follow their so called beliefs at any other time.

I will prob get shit for this but im glad you all said this. It proper rags me off when people mock my wanting to go to church (i dont go every week. Work and social commitments dont always allow but deffo go more than say 12 times a year.. to much mocking)... then they have a church wedding. Cheeky bastards

Or one could be by a lovely river listening to the real message of Easter which is the natural birth or awakening of so many of earths evolved creatures and plants in the northern

hemisphere or the Christian version which illustrates humans are vile creatures who just love to kill each other xxx

No I'm not suggesting that

So one can sit by the river listen to the birds watch them nest and look at the blue bells ,

Or one can go to church and be reminded just how vile humans are as a species as we are told a story about an innocent man who is murdered

I know where I'd rather be and the thoughts I want floating around in my head

The notion that an eternal super being conned humans into assisting it to pretend to die to save human kind from it's self is insanely flawed , not least that this super being would have known it would not work and indeed would know it would cause more division amongst the murderous humans luckily it's just a poorly conceived myth

So I will stick with my river trees and mountains xxx

I slept in and my family are pissed because of it.

I'm not even religious and yet still have to go to church on big religious holidays or else I face their wrath

I never go to church in the traditional sense as I'm an Athiest. I do attend weddings, funerals and christenings.

However, I love ecclesiastical architecture so enjoy visiting churches, cathedrals and mosques.

I would highly recommend Southwell Minster.
