I tend to think that guys who call me hun, babe etc are showing some sweetness, their way of adding a tender touch via two dimensional text, for example in messages. If their intentions are good, then I'm content (they're not wanting to butter me up to shag me I assume).

Huni and the few variants annoy a little though.

No on here it's probably easier for people to use a pet name, in real life it could be that the person may not remember your name or just a type of person that calls everyone by a pet name. As for the way the message is written it could be for a number of reasons, if your not sure what's ment by text it's no big deal to ask.

yeah. i passed the first week 100% already but getting pretty tired.

and finger prints aren't that good for matching, never knew that. and the leading cause of people being wrongly imprisoned is eye witnesses (81%!!), they actually changed the way witnesses pick people out now because of it.

Single words don't put me off people. My brain is turned off by the whole package, not a choice of word, or whether someone uses text speak for simplicity. I have people who have Oxford English degrees who use text speak. And they aren't a lazy fuck. I take each person on their own merit.

I especially don't like being called 'Bird'.....

Xx

See I can deal with darling from people I know, but nothing from anyone on here

Yes I don't mine 'darling' from people I know or 'lovely' - but people who I don't know and don't know me then no. It can be cringy

I'm so glad you understand haha! I physically cringed when someone called me 'Babe' the other day and they saw my shudder and had a go at me for it "

I totally do understand! Cringy & makes me squirm sometimes too cannot believe they had a go at you for it!

"Is there any survey or any factual basis to back up the idea that the use of text speak means the person is more likely to be lazy when it comes to sex?"

It's simply what I associate it with laziness, so if someone is using it on a site like this - it's an automatic association in my head

"To me it depends on who's calling me the pet name. But i totally agree with the text speak/illiteracy. Total turn off for both of us! Getting a message like "id luv to play ur tits" makes me dry up like a nun."

Haha!!! Same here

That's the reason I use 'totes' with my best friend, and I hate myself for it.

Bae is the worst one but it comes out like word vomit. "

Yes!!! And I've now included in my bio as a reason I will delete a message! It's just so cringey..

Right?! Like it blows me away at how apparently sensitive this subject is to some people

It all says in my profile but obviously so many illiterate people miss that as they don't read profile . I delete those messages straight away !

I've found that some people just skip past anything that we say on our profiles. If they like the way we look, they turn into cavemen

I loathe being called Hun and Babe by total strangers, especially as it's usually accompanied by text speak.

As for illiteracy, no.

Txt speak for txt speak sake, yes, nothing worse.

Yeah I meant like text speak, to me it comes across as lazy and I guess I associate it with lazy in bed?"

Don't believe everything you read or hear on fab...

I have to say I only use it with people I know and NEVER out in public. The embarrassment would be too much and I could never show my face again.

I don't mind endearments (including insulting ones) from people I know well but even then I don't think anyone know calls me hun or babe; they tend towards more imaginative than that. I have been known to call people I know well babber but only verbally and because it invariably brings out the tinge of West Country in my accent. I like a colloquialism.

Same! Like if I hear someone call another person 'Smoochems' or something in public, I make it known that I'm disgusted by it just through the sheer look on my face
