I thought Hollywood was a dive but the outlying suburbs etc were prettier. Only there briefly but i was really dissapointed.

Yep, I agree. I enjoyed Venice beach, but Malibu beach was grim

by the big field

I'd recommend spending your money in a country not run by a psychopath who will probably blow the planet up.

Best way to get the loon out is to boycott their products and services as much as possible and starve the country of income- he'll soo be ousted once the cash flow dries up the world is full of much nicer places

Same here. Stayed in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Apparently it's the place where the stars stay - well, all I can say is that they have low standards.

Much prefered San Diego and Dan Fransisco

Waveney Valley

Being an out doors type I decided to hike from the car park in the valley to the Griffith Observatory....only to suddenly become aware it was a cruising area.

That may come as a recommendation to some, a warning to others.

Central

Go south from LA - anywhere is better really. Cheap short haul flights get you away with minimal hassle. I just don't find it interesting or great to be there.

i agree. San Francisco is a beautiful place with lots to do/see and some great bars and VERY friendly and you have the Pier and the sea lions and then a boat ride to Alcatraz

1..... drive...

if you don't drive getting round LA is a pig!!!

have to say i am not the biggest fan of LA, but if you do drive and you are staying for a bit then do go down to San Diego... its only about a 90 min-2hr drive and is gorgeous

its took late now to be seeing any basketball at staples... so do take in an afternoon game at dodgers stadium
