Twonk has it's roots in the 90s as a hybrid of the words 'twat' and 'plonker'.

Twat is considered a huge insult to northerners so twonk is not a word that would have originated in the north. Plonker is very much a London word and I recall all my uncles using it regularly when I was a child (does that infer that I was always doing things wrong if I heard the word so frequently?
