Bath is beautiful with lots to see.

Oxford has some good museums and great architecture.

Stratford Upon Avon if you're into Shakespeare.

Theres been a lot of good places covered.

Food suggestions if recommend trying traditional english food. Fish and chips, steak and kidney pie. Toad in the hole.

When your here if you post where you are at a given time people will be able to tell you best local places to eat.

If you're interested in castles and history, check out the English Heritage website. They run many of the castles and historic sites around England, including Dover, Stonehenge, etc. You can buy an overseas visitor pass, which gets you into most sites and ends up saving you a ton of money (depending on how many places you visit). They also have lots of events throughout the year.

Wales has some really impressive castles as well (not included in the overseas visitor pass).

Scotland is my favorite place for scenery in the UK - Glen Coe, the highlands, the isle of Skye...

As for cities, there are many good ones and it really depends on your interests, but London, Edinburgh, York, Bath, Conwy, Carnarvon, Chester, Winchester, Harrogate, Knaresborough, etc. are really nice.

You can also take a look at the National Trust website if you like historic houses (they also run a number of castles).

the view from the top of Snowdon in North wales has just been voted the best in the world...

the rest of North Wales is stunning too, plenty of castles and history

People are voting in cities here. Villages make some great sighs, pick the right ones and you'll be in thatch heaven, Norman or Tudor surrounds that are much more accessible than cities. Google best villages UK and you'll gets some great ideas. They'll have great pubs and local fare attached.

I'd aim for Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England, if enough time. And definitely not too much time in London, as it's not typical of the country.

I'd include Stonehenge and Bath - possibly Cornwall too. And head over into Wales by land from there. In the north, York and Newcastle are great. The latter is fairly close to the southern Scottish border with England. Scotland is varied with great cities - Glasgow and Edinburgh amongst them, which are reasonably close to each other. The Scottish highlands are wonderful and I've spent weeks in them. Just a few ideas

Brighton, so much variety there.

Liverpool, again history,

The lake district, beautiful scenery.

Wales, again beautiful scenery.

York, history, scenery.

Sadly not been to many other places in the UK
