"Leave them in to brew for a minute or a quick dip in and out? "

Leave in to brew and then press between the inside of the cup and spoon for extra strength

If left in too long apparently other chemical ingredients get released from the leaves, that counteract the effects of caffeine.

"5 squeezes is just right "

Are we still talking teabags?

Leave in for about 2-3 mins, squeeze periodically and tiniest bit of milk.

Tried to leave it in for as long as possible to infuse all the flavour... but the pain was too much and I just had to take my ballbag out before it dropped off

I picked it up from a TV show in passing. L Theanine is an amino acid that's largely only in the tea plant. It seems to contribute the relaxed state that we get from a cup of tea though may also give us cognitive benefits that supplement the stimulation we'd get from caffeine. I'm unsure if there's something other than Theanine that may also counterbalance the caffeine stimulant.

The benefit of tea compared to coffee is that both have caffeine but only tea has Theanin, which is likely why it's viewed as something that helps us to feel better.
