Does anyone actually use them and do they actually work?

Never used them on here and never received one.

We personally cannot stand them and think they are lazy.

A friendly short message takes seconds more to complete and is much more personal.

Just our opinion though!

From reading in the forums and experience on here I'd say, in general, that women and couples don't like them but single males do.

So we have a bit of a stand off

Don't use them and ignore senders of them.

I do use them and have received many winks over the years, they're a great ice breaker although most will say it's being lazy.

I like to wink on occasion- but never expect to receive messages from them. I take it as a sign of giving and receiving just a flirt. So no harm in winking

They imply the sender is too lazy to write a personalised message. Avoid.

So I think the consensus is not many people like then or use them and are a lazy way of contacting people.

What could an alternative be if the wink was replaced with something else?

Send a rose or a kiss (too similar to wink) but new.

Send a profile link

Some automated text saying this person is interested.

Send a pic

Anymore suggestions??

Indeed, but that was in the thread where you had to wink at those in your hotlist. Double busted

When I'd like to meet someone, I'll message them.

Used to use them all the time as a wee cyber 'tip of the hat' to folks to show an intent.

Haven't used any this time on though, oh maybe once actually, but I knew them anyway.

I always check my winks and I often wink to people to show interest while not adding to the huge pile of mail they probably have. I guess it is lazy but most days all my messages just get ignored so I find it to be a less depressing endeavour that spending ages writing out personalised messages and getting not even a glance

I see winks as a lazy alternative, and a bit ambiguous too, as some see winks as saying nice profile, so a message would work better

So avoid a wink at all costs. Because wee willy winky has gone wonky.

fife

never send and never look to see who's sent me any, if there was a function to stop it I'd use it, not sure what people who send them expect in return?
