I've posted in the Scottish forum but would like others opinions... I've been thinking about this for a while to use it, but I have my doubts. Has anyone ever used it and have they had a positive experience from it? Bad experience welcome too. Want to see what people say.

Never used it myself. But daughter booked an apartment in Krakow months ago, booked flights etc then got an email 2 weeks prior informing her the booking was cancelled, no apology, just advising her how to obtain a refund. Managed to find an alternative, had her money refunded, then discovered original apartment being advertised for the same dates at considerably higher price!!! So no, wouldn't recommend it.

Oh, that doesn't sound good! I hope she managed to get something else and enjoyed her holiday

Yes used it a few times. Been great. Very easy to deal with and far cheaper than hotels. Had some great houses in Norway last year. Absolutely stunning and for a fraction of the cost of a crap hotel there.

One of my clients uses them regularly to house cast and crew in this country. Again, great places with tons of room.

Well worth it. Just make sure you pay through the site though.

Used it about 6 times. 1 bad experience, the flat was damp and mouldy. Didn't stay there, had a refund from Air BnB by the time we arrived home.

Will be using them when I go to Vietnam and Cambodia next year.

City centre

Uswd AirBnb plenty of times. Been great every time I've used it no bad experiences at all.

Plus it's generally cheaper than hotels with all the mod cons. It's brilliant. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Yep My son uses it alot we have been to Sitges and Tulum in mexico he has been loads of other places in uk .When they go running they will rent a house for a few nights , being in a place that is set up as a home works for them and they can cook big meals etc . cheaper than hotels.

He rents out his flat too and gets good reviews

If you chat to the people where you are looking and read reviews you will get a good idea of the place .

We have stayed in some gorgeous Airbnb places. Never had a problem and would thoroughly recommend the site. Haven't tried any abroad yet though

Central

I've seen campaigns against it from several towns and neighbourhoods, due to decreases of home rental stock, with them being bought up for airbnb use, meaning local prices increased for locals. It can also result in changes to neighbourhoods. I'd not use it where locals are unhappy.

I've used Airbnb with a friend. It was awesome.

I've recently found an interesting Airbnb in Shrewsbury too.

We had a similar experience, booked an apartment in spain then had email from the owner saying that the price was incorrect, they wanted around 5 times as much as advertised!! Never been on the site since

I'd like to say I've used them in diferent places with all positive results...India, France, Portugal, Wales, Ireland. Like anything though it's important to read the reviews.

"Any used Airbnb for swinging meet-ups or parties ?"

There's a few fab gatherings advertised over here in recent months using them. Seem to be a popular alternative to hotel venue.
