Has anyone else seen the Lars von Trier films (Vol. 1 & 2)?

I watched them recently and rather enjoyed them, particularly the female point of view and depiction of strong sexual desires from the female standpoint of how society is expected to respond.

I did, however, feel that the overall content of the 'desires' were fairly mild in comparison with things I see here on fab and my own urges. Guess that says a lot about me.

Seen it, bit I found it rather boring. Its sold as a rather arty film, I guess I am just too simple to get it.

hated the ending, not gonna spoil it but that guy making out he was her friend was full of shit and what he said kinda stuck out to me.

Yeah I agree it could have ended better. The second film drags a bit in general, compared to the first (I guess partly due to it supposed to have originally been just the one complete film).

it was a bit more rough as well, the story of the 2nd part.

shame the film didn't have a better ending, or at least show the woman fuck up the guys life instead of him being a piece of shit.

I am surprised you found the "female point of view" convincing - I didn't think or feel there was aaaaanything feminine about this story, the characters, experience etc. If anything it was a very masculine depiction of sexuality. A few ideas or dynamics presented I found very disturbing. I agree the ending was the coup de grace on a saga which had already lost me.

I also understand why you felt a lot of the sex was pedestrian. We did giggle at the scene of the DP that didn't happen though - this was the fruit of either first-hand experience or meticulous research!

I fell asleep before the second movie ended and didn't feel bothered to rewind and see what I missed. There were disturbing scenes at times that just left me feeling they were only in for the shock value.

It gave a realistic enough representation of addiction in some people but it isn't enough to carry 2 movies.

I think it says more about the director's state of mind at the time of writing and making the film than anything else.

I should think a number of people watch it expecting at the very least to be able to have a wank to it.

It's an interesting look at sexual addiction, which is ruined by the directors attempts to be edgy and controversial.

Sure i ignored the devastation of stars on the Netflix reviews was cos the film wasn't "sexy" enough! But no it was that bad! Oh well at least Lars had a wank to it
