Mapmyrun is good.

My advice, for nice quiet roads (this is my old home area) for the second half, head towards Twycross, then Atherstone, Shustoke, Maxstoke, Meridan, Balsall Common, Knowle, Hockley Heath, Earlswood, Wythall, Hopwood, Bromsgrove

Agreed!

Plus contact the Tourist Information Centres of the counties you intend to pass through; you can make an initial contact through the Tourist Information centre closest to where you live and they should be able to provide details of their counterparts in other areas.

You could also try contacting the County Councils pf the counties you'll be travelling through. Under their respective Transport Policy, they have to include cycling routes, facilities and such like. Most councils have a cycling promotions/awareness officer.

Lastly, if you aren't a member already, look at the CTC, the Cyclists Touring Club, who can provide invaluable help.

If you aren't used to that sort of distance, you could head to Sutton and train from there to Bromsgrove.

Whatever you do, don;t think riding through Brum is a good idea -horrible city for cyclists.

AS well intentioned as this advice is, seriously most of it wont help. The CTC are great but will almost certainly only give advise on longer rides, as for expecting to get help from councils and LA's - no chance, it's not what they do. Their role is about bike lanes and safe routes in suburban areas not handing out route advice.

From the experience of both my brother (who is a really seasoned cyclist) and myself, I've found that councils do so in this part of the UK, plus over in parts of the Pennines, Essex, Suffolk, in Bristol, and in the Scottish Highlands too.

Shouldnt take me longer than 6 hours - Im a reasonable cyclist but its just a new route i dont know at all.

Have found google to be pretty useful to be honest coz you can tweak the routes etc so its all good so far - about 75 miles it reckons

Good man

Thats pretty much the route that ive ended up with so far. Might have to go to Stratford so will have to tweak it but its all good.
