Vodafone home broadband only.

Fixed price - great speed (slightly cheaper if you're a Vodafone mobile client too).

No need for line rental -

Don't need to talk to their appalling customer service centres

I don't pay for any line rental

Not tied to a cable network company

One price every month - kaboom

Virgin Media Fibre Optic.

No line rental, fixed monthly price.

Only negative is they're not offering IPV6. Which means my NAT type can sometimes switch to strict which isn't good for gaming. A reset normally sorts it though.

Was with them years ago, bloody awful they are, connection kept dropping, and the customer services are an absolute joke.

I'm with Virgin Media - have you just gone with broadband and the phone provided by someone else? We barely use the phone so line rental is a ridiculous cost

Sky, was with talk talk but considering the price I was paying for fibre the service was terrible.

Cool - I'm pondering that but having to update phone numbers everywhere could be a ball ache

In this day and age there should be no need to pay line rental if you just want a broadband service. The big players in the industry need to pull their fingers out and follow Vodaphone's lead.

Having to pay line rental when you don't even own a landline phone is completely ridiculous.

How much are you paying, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm stuck in a sodding contract with Plusnet, otherwise I'd look into it.

BT Infinity, I get the best speeds for the best price in a non cable area

The Home Hub router is the best one you can get on these deals, without paying a lot of money for an equivalent

Don't be fooled by the no line rental. All companies were told by Ofcom to include the line rental in the full price now. So before they were saying "BB for £5!" Then in tiny letters they said excluding line rental. Now they have to include that so it'll be "BB for £20!"

But Vodafone are insanely cheap for Fibre at the moment so it'll be interesting how long that lasts. I work in the telecommunications field so I take interest!

Just remember people that all companies bar Virgin use the same lines... so when shopping around, you're essentially paying for which ever has the best customer service and no usage limits.

Work provided FO broadband so no bills, no filtering or traffic shopping, no limits and no blocked sites because the provider isn't one of the 'big six'.

Happy days

It may be the same line, but the providers do have their own equipment in the Exchanges

When you come to leave Sky, TalkTalk etc. You're unbundling from their equipment, and moving to another set, which can cause further delay or expense

A couple of friends have raved about how good the Vodafone cable package is, so thinking of switching.

Been with EE/Orange since Freeserve. Slow and crap, too keen to block sites on a whim (including this one).

All the BT users I know, complain about how crap theirs is, so I'd never go that route.

That may be true but they all use very similar Alcatel Lucent equipment in the exchange and the whole backhaul is always fibre optic. The only real service impacting part of the line is the copper line itself and all providers have to deal with the shit that is Openreach.
