This place is wealth of wisdom so here goes?

Is there such a thing as a mid life crises, if so what are the symptoms and normally when does it kick in?

No idea but I know folk are going to start joking about it soon.

I'm planning to get there first though by organising something a bit mental that doesn't involve tattoos or motorbikes or younger blondes

Mid life which you are not!

We often feel like things go stale but mid life crisis tends to be more emotionally charged

Serious answer? You gradually realise over a number of months that if you don't do stuff NOW you probably won't. This coupled with an increasing realisation that what other people think doesn't matter in the slightest motivates people to do things that might seem out of character.

You also find yourself reassessing what's important in life.

Some people get a bit fed up and do some daft things but mostly its just a bit of a watershed rather than a crisis.

Does it start with an 'I'm x years old and what have I really done?' feeling

I was out out up the toon on Saturday night and the bar/club we went to was 25% older wealthy guys(late fiftys I'd say) entertaining groups of much younger chicks wi bottles of vodka, bubbles etc. Looked a bit cringy tbh and made me think to myself 'God am I going to end up doing that too' fs.

I can't speak for other people and I'm a woman so I really shouldn't have answered . But not for me, no. It was more a gradual realisation that our kids were off hand and we were allowed to do stuff like sell the house, leave our jobs and live by the sea.

Ah the judgement of the young on the old. I'm not criticising we all did it. In fact we were talking about it earlier.

It's not mid life crisis, its enjoying life while you've got it

Yeh I understand what you mean and I hated thinking like that cause no doubt the guys there in their twenties prob thought the same thing looking at our group. The thing is tho they didn't look like they where enjoying it just there spending cash on the girls with that been there, done it and got the t-shirt grin on their faces.

Guys in their late fifties and over are often extremely good lovers, that might have something to do with it too.
