Apparently, we're not allowed to use google to construct an answer anymore. This hasn't come from Admin or the Mods obviously, but from some of the users who think that we should all have brains like super-computers and hold every single piece of data about every subject that gets discussed on here and be able to retrieve it at a moment's notice and give the correct answer (that would be the answer that coincides with the person opposed to your point of view)

Of course, me being the Supreme Being that I am, I know every URL to every snippet of info there is to be found on the t'interweb thingamajig.

You can say what ya like, even if it's wrong, but don't ever ever bloody ever Google it! It's not allowed.

Most of the important things I've learnt, or got into, are because of Google/search engines.

Not to mention I buy many things at half to 1/10 of their high street retail value online. Saved thousands.

Personally I love google I just don't see why people have to cut and paste great chunks of something they've gleamed from Wikipedia into EVERY post, then others quote that post in theirs.

My simple brain hurts and my eyes go funny when I have to trawl through so much print. But hey, if people are bored and feel they have to prove every point...I don't think people should stop their fun!

People can comment on what is posted on the forums: just as the OP felt the need to comment via this thread!

Its when people quote from google to make themselves look far more intelligent than they are that makes me howl. Especially when they dont have the brain power to come up with their own thoughts and ideas

I'm 46 and the old grey matter just doesn't hold as much info as it used to. I think my RAM is in conflict with my hard drive - a few women may testify to that!

i could dispute that about your ram being in conflict with your hard drive with a massive google post - but decided to keep some forum decorum

Not at all Jane, I'm just a little frustrated that information found by googling is being increasingly used as an slur on one's intelligence - usually by the not so bright. It seems that one is supposed to KNOW everything without googling it else one's basis for an argument is flawed and thus inadmissable.

If I google or Wiki and then cut and paste.... it's to save me time typing it, an attempt to make sure I am accurate and to show it's not just my random opinion.

The great thing about google and wiki and such t'ings, is everyone has the same access.... so there is no one-upmanship about it.... it's not like only a handful of people can use it.

But of course you do need to know what to type in the little box before clicking search.
