Go see an osteopath. I knackered my back some time ago after being run over by a cow, GP was hopeless, chiropractor didn't help, osteopath soon had me fixed. It took a while of weekly treatments but now i go once in a while just for a tweak. Genius.

I feel your pain, suffered for years.

Try this clear cream type stuff called flexisec, really does work for me.

Available over the counter in any good pharmacy, it's a bit pricey at £18 a tube but you only use a little bit daily so it does last quite a while.

All achieved without the need for medication.

Hot stones can help my mum has suffered with her back for years. Doesn't fully rake the pain away but they make it a lot more bearable almost instantly.

I agree about an osteopath, no referral needed from a GP either. I see an osteopath, physiotherapist and I have acupuncture and the osteopath is what does the most for me. I've never felt as good as when I've been seen by him.

But go to see a therapist not a beautifying who has done an add on course.

Swedish massage is good too with the same caveat.

You can get referred to an NHS osteopath but i think it's best to go private as they're much better. I pay £35 for an hour's treatment. Worth every penny.

I've got an osteopath who does a combination of manipulation and extreme deep tissue massage - painful but sooooo good

I have discovered the joy of Devil's Claw and it is a bloody marvellous thing. Two a day and no need for painkillers.

Every few months, when the pains is getting bad again, I visit Becky, my local sports massage specialist.

She spends up to an hour generally pulling, pushing and twisting. It hurts, requiring lots of breathing control for the pain. She then applies cold gel, tells me to drink a litre of water and I pay her £40.

Within an hour, I can feel an improvement.

8 years of NHS physio versus 4 sessions with Becky

I'll see if the works physio will refer.

Theres 2 onsite physios one is a butcher who everyone hates and makes things worse the other is really good but its a gamble who you get.

Work is good for referring for treatment though (local gps if they know you work here will often tell you to go through company not the hospital as its quicker).

I was on the motorway when i got ran over though :p

fiesta not a cow though

Yes its great for compressive problems which is what I have - not sure what damage the OP has from his accident or what is causing pain - that will dictate the best treatment I would have thought.
