BTW, how do you know that they didn't understand YOUR accent?

Once when I was in Scotland visiting a mate and Brookside came on. One person said, 'What the hell are they saying? I just can't understand that. Just what the hell are they saying?' Everyone else just shook their heads or shrugged their shoulders in agreement.

Made me realise that there will always be an accent that is difficult to understand.

That's the beauty of accents.

The written conversation was fine but on the phone is couldn't understand the Glasgow accent

The irish girls at work have to translate to the Indian nurses what I'm saying.the irish didn't know what I was on about for ages when I 1st moved here
