I would class playing safe as ensuring the guy is wearing a condom. Less likely to get stds from oral but i know it can happen.

There's safe and there's 'Fab safe'

The risks are proven to be lower with oral, but nevertheless there are still genuine risks from uncovered head.

If in doubt - don't do anything that opens you up to potential harm

I assume they mean safer sex. There is no 100% safe sex, unless neither of you have any diseases. Even then, you could fall off the bed.
