I made a concerted effort after Xmas to date again as got lonely over the festive period.

I started seeing a girl and I've not long called it a day as hated having to consider/answer to someone else when planning my life...

I'm happy single at the moment.

I tend to go for volatile/strong high maintenence types.

It's ok, then they move in with me and it all goes to shit, because I spend the whole time wishing I was single and had my house back.

that's the honest truth of me dating.

Add to say I wouldn't date anyone off here though.

I'd prefer to meet her outside of here and bring them on.

My last Ex wasn't that interested although she did briefly entertain the idea.

Being single has it pluses and negatives

Plus side is I can do what ever I want when I want the won't effect anyone but me.

Negative not having intimate moments and possibilities of lots of sex on tap

No. I like doing my own thing. I don't miss compromising or checking with anyone. I buy what I want, go out when I want. Dates are available if u want them. Had a few flings but nothing serious.

Personally I think the day to day mundane kills the passion. The cleaning, the bills, the boring stuff.

From my perspective, also Yes and No.

I've always thought I'd always have someone in my life as I grew older, and certainly by the time I got to 50.

Now at almost 62, I'm still following that somewhat elusive dream but now feeling I've missed my chance of settling down with someone.

For all my skills in business, especially in Customer and Public handling & Sales, in some aspects of my Social Life, I'm still so tongue tied and shy as I was when in my teens! That impacts at times when I do feel so alone, but I have got used to it and just get on with life. Hard, especially at Xmas, Valentines Day & other traditional "Couple" times, plus my Birthday when I don't get cards except from two friends of mine. No not even brother sends me a card.

But on the other hand, I've been alone so long, would I fit in around someone in my life and would they fit in around me and the style of living I've got used to??

After spending a long time with the wrong person I'm happy to be single. Being single is so much better than being in a relationship with someone that isn't right for you.

I have my friends and family that matter. I will finally be able to return to uni and do my pgce without answering to him - he didn't want me to go. My finances are starting to build up (although taking much longer than I'd hoped). But most importantly of all, after years of him destroying it, my confidence is slowly but surely growing.

I'm happily single. 4 years now.

I learned to accept and be happy single. Now single or relationship I'd be happy either path my life steers in. Being satisfied with your own company is the only way you can ever be ready for the right relationship really. If you're unhappy single, don't expect that a relationship will fill the hole. You'll have a different set of problems.

Don't sit at home. Get out. Do stuff. Get hobbies. Fill your life with good things and don't be scared to do stuff on your own. I go out to gigs alone, don't care. Smile. X

I hear ya. To keep the passion alive and not ending up in pjs in the evening or daytime.

I dont want to live with anyone I dont think but to spend Naughty weekends away and making an effort everytime we meet

"I miss cuddles and holding hands I guess oh and not having to wear a condom but I can't remember the last time I thought oh I wish I had a partner but if/when I do have a relationship i still won't be answering to him, I'll still be going out when I want and spending my money how I see fit.

If your partner is taking your freedom away it's not a relationship. "

"I love it can't see me ever having another relationship either, mainly due to the fact I have very specific criteria for any future partners and I'm not sure if a lass who ticks all my boxes even exists "

I have a friend like you: twenty years I've known him, never had a girlfriend as he has a "fantasy list" even down to what side of the river she must live on!

Cute and funny in your thirties, he's now approaching sixty...never married, have kids etc because he wouldn't compromise. Oh well...Each to their own!

Depends on my frame of mind

If I'm in good spirits it doesn't bother me

If I'm because of a stressful day at work or the kids are playing me up etc then I can feel lonely as Ive no one to cuddle me and say " everything is okay "

Other times when I'm at work and listening to the girls complaining about their partners, I just think thank god I'm single, so for me it's yes and no about feeling lonely

Don't sit at home. Get out. Do stuff. Get hobbies. Fill your life with good things and don't be scared to do stuff on your own. I go out to gigs alone, don't care. Smile. X

Genuinely quite sad to read that.

Why are you sad? I'm not. Life is for fricken' living, not waiting for a partner so you can start living?

I'd love a relationship where we live in separate houses and "date"

Ooh I can think of nothing worse lol, to be committed, and still not 'with' that person! I always remember part of my natal chart said "The first of the earth signs, Venus in Taurus is very physical. You are sensually inclined......Satisfaction is important to you, and your lover's physical presence is demanded!!"

I spent over half of my life with one man. I wouldn't invest that much time and energy into someone again.

I'm quite enjoying being single. I've met some great people I wouldn't have been able to when I was with my ex, but it does have some cons.

You can't control suddenly waking up with a severe disability or something drastic happening, but you're always in control of your attitude.

I would love to be in a relationship, so much love to give. However, I am living my life and building my future assuming that I will be single forever and Be ok with that. If it happens, then great.

Feel free to set me up!

lifes a learning process for all of us, I think. To me, I feel like to achieve more contentment and thus more people drawn to me, a satisfaction with what you have has been necessary.

Yes I understand what you're saying, but certain events/people test us at time's don't they making that contentment hard to achieve. Anyway I'm waffling
