I was really quite disturbed when I realised that...

... mostly because I'd seen those movies (and some of Giger's art) long before I ever got that close to a woman! Not sure whether that says more about his mental state or mine...

The Alien designs are very deliberately done. Note their smooth phallic heads, and way their miniature heads come out of their mouths to penetrate their victims. It's safe to say Giger's mind was in some kinky places...

Or at least gynaecological ones. It took me a while to figure out (it was the late 90s, so lacking the benefit of the internet!), but I got there eventually. That's the problem with viewing art without the proper contextual frame of reference, or the life experience to appreciate it...

(Anyway, I'll stop derailing this discussion before someone decides to facehugger me!)
