For those of us with mothers who failed at being mothers or still do.

"Or those of us that were mothers but their child died"

There's another specific thread for that. This if for the people who suffered at the hands of their mother.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I'm conflicted. My mother was, and still is, a rubbish mother, but I got the best card ever from my daughter. So its bittersweet for me today.

I would have loved to have had a mother who engendered the same love that I obviously do for my daughter. Oh well, bit late now.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I posted last year, or the one before, because I didn't have a good relationship with my mother. Now that she has died I can't do anything to change that. It was a shock to me to experience the level of grief I felt and I now find myself trying to reconcile the emotional mix of knowing the things she did that hurt me with the very profound loss I have been feeling.

It has been a case of 'be careful what you wish for' but I know this too will pass.

I'm sorry you're going through that, it's something I've thought about often and I'll guess I'll have to see what happens.
