A friend just sent me an old photo of us singing karaoke; singing in a last-minute booked out karaoke room was something an old group of work colleagues used to do when we were 'chasing the night' after a few too many. We always had particular songs that were our signature tunes as well as ensuring we tried new ones each time too.

I would always duet Hit The Road Jack as one of my tunes.

What is (or would) your karaoke tune be?

Which tune suits your voice, or really gets you going?

(Damn, I quite fancy a one-off revisit of a karaoke night, perhaps a London Fab Social one might be in order? )

Eurekas did karaoke as part of their BBW Night a few months back, it seemed pretty popular so may crop up again soon. I must admit, I bottled it and didn't sing.

Would try and pluck up the nerve for Fabs Social karaoke.

Noooooo. I'd never find another forumite attractive again if I had to deal with the trauma of enduring poorly (but heartfelt) belted out tunes.

'Common People' - Pulp for me. Or Kate Bush. Anything I can do exaggerated dance moves to and not have to take myself remotely serious with.

You don't have to come!

I like it when people are enjoying themselves. For me that is the epitome of being attractive! Although I appreciate karaoke is a marmite activity.

A lot of the songs I like to belt out at home never appear on karaoke lists so on the rare times I have done it I have resorted to my childhood love of soul and Motown despite having a voice more suited to indie and folk tunes. I do a passable What Becomes of the Broken Hearted.

The trick for me was starting early. I think I first sang in public when I was 10, playing the role of Caiaphas in a bastardised mash up of Jesus Christ Superstar and a kids 'Holy Week' musical. I would have loved the chance to play Jesus in the real JCS though and sing 'Gethsemane'

I still have to apologise to those who heard it to this day

I'm sure we'd love the encore!!

That may or may not have involved a rendition of Elvis' Suspicious Minds... complete with arm windmills and hip shakes... jeez I shouldnt be allowed out "

Brilliant

"I love singing - in private, at home - so have only ever done karaoke once in my life and that was Natalie Imbruglia's Torn. Give me enough rum though and I'll do Green Day's Holiday for you

I had *never* sung in public until this group of friends coaxed me into it -- I was so nervous but then suddenly something happened...it was the best feeling!!

I still can only do it in one of those book out your own room places where you're only with your comrades, and it's a safe space!!!

At least you've overcome your fears and done it!

It's bloody ridiculous I can't because I really do love belting out a tune ... I have to satisfy my singing urges by warbling along to live bands where no one can hear me

The trick for me was starting early. I think I first sang in public when I was 10, playing the role of Caiaphas in a bastardised mash up of Jesus Christ Superstar and a kids 'Holy Week' musical. I would have loved the chance to play Jesus in the real JCS though and sing 'Gethsemane'"

Not sure how many karaoke discs are going to feature that one!

As a result of this thread and having YouTube videos on in the background I have now figured out I can do an OK Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. Still haven't found a karaoke version of any PJ Harvey songs yet though.

All time favourite tune to sing is Steppenwolfs Born To Be Wild

I need to have consumed the right amount of alcohol to do it justice though n make up for lack of singing ability by really belting it out with a lot of heart!

I fancy doing a version of Lady Antebellum's 'Need You Now' but would need a gorgeous woman with the voice of an angel to be my partner in crime
