Found out about this today and my local Vaping shop is selling their stock cheaply. Looks like DIY is the way to go.

Maximum refill containers can not exceed 10ml.

Aside from the increase of environmental waste from all these extra plastic bottles, this will increase e liquid cost as packaging makes up a significant part of the cost of production.

Maximum nicotine strength of 20mg.

A blow to new users who are coming from a heavy smoking habit, 24mg was a common strength to help initially kick the cigarettes. The biggest effect will be on the DIY market, where high strength nicotine concentrate of up to 72mg/L was commonly used to mix your own juice. No “end consumer” can purchase nicotine base liquid in strength over 20mg/L and bottle size over 10ml.

Maximum tank capacity of 2ml.

Say goodbye to a lot of the high performance and “sub ohm” vaping tanks and a massive reduction of product choice. Expect only a few compliant tanks to be available and to be refilling them much more often.

Product approvals, Packaging requirements, customer notifications and data reporting.

Some of this is welcomed by the industry to increase quality control and safety, however much of this is already done voluntarily by reputable retailers and manufacturers. Costly product registration for each and every product variation (each variation of strength and flavour) will massively reduce e liquid choice and new flavours brought to market. Extra business costs for compliance will ultimately lead to increased cost of products for the consumer.

My concern about vaping is the lack of historical data. Also how many car drivers are driving whilst holding a vape thing and then blowing massive plumes of smoke. It has to distracted the driver. When will theystart getting fined for it. Final gripe is the increase in cannabis users who are now vaping high strength oils which are have higher concentrations of THC.

As an ex smoker who just quit 8 don't understand the reliance on all these aids. Just get on with it and be more disciplined.

My only concern with DIY, is this is where the majority of incidents happen. So in 1 respect they are protecting the health of the person, then allowing them to build a vape that can potentially blow up.

I always make the juice for me and Shaz, have been doing for a while, so much cheaper and real easy to make, both got big tanks already so not a problem for us

What historical data do you need ? Like the new drug that prevents users catching HIV ... how much data over how long would you be happy with....

Much prefer vapes, I don't use either, but as a person with asthma vapes don't fuck up my lungs! I can happily sit in a room with someone gaping and not care.

Fox there is all ways that arse who just has to drain a tank every puff to fill a room with worst smell they can find, but generally I find them a lot better than smoking.

Just bought wiggles a new one today, as while people are complaining at cape changes, it's way better than the no more 10packs.. if she has to buy 20 a time, she will smoke 20 a day, why they would remove smaller packs is anyone's guess.

The new TPD laws are slowly coming in and many suppliers are offering 30ml liquids in 3x10ml bottle at the same price.

You can't buy certain tabks sizes In a complete set up but can buy the individual components. So shouldn't notice to much difference. I hope.

Yeah, the TPD is an EU wide directive and has been written into UK law as the TRPR. Basically tank sizes are limited to 2ml and must not leak. Juice bottles are restricted to 10ml and a max strength of 20mg nicotine.

Also, when buying nicotine for DIY juice the strongest you'll legally be allowed to buy is 20mg in 10ml bottles (I've stocked up on 72mg well in advance).

I build my own coils and generally use a mechanical mod and RDA when I'm at home. When out or driving I have a Pico Dual and either an OBS Engine or Ijoy Tornado tank.

If you plan on making your own juice it's really, really easy.

Buy you nicotine from Darkstar (get 72mg while you still can).

Get your VG and PG from Lubrisolve and get your concentrates from Flavour Boss, their Boss Shots are a very cheap and easy way to make 500ml or 1ltr of e-liquid without the hassle of working out flavour percentages.

They would still have failed.

The big pharmaceutical companies don't want tobacco harm reduction that actually works because they make billions from treatment of smoking related illnesses (there's no profit in a healthy population).

The tobacco companies don't want you to quit for obvious reasons.

The government don't really want you to quit because of the tax revenue and the kick backs they get from big pharma and big tobacco.

Even the most recent study carried out by the RCP which found vaping to be 97% safer than smoking (after a 2yr medical study) has fallen on deaf ears around the world.

The most obvious law which seems to be missing is to make it illegal to vape in public buildings. I have a director who does it in the office, I've been next to people doing it at gigs. It's all but the same goddamn smoke.

My daughter for one. She used vaping to give up smoking, but enjoyed it so much she kept on doing it once she'd reduced the nicotine. I wish I could but the nicotine is the only thing keeping me out of prison.

I mix my own too. A litre costs me less than £20 to make and I can clone "premium" recipes almost exactly.

What became painfully clear on Friday is that the MHRA are playing fast and loose with the interpretation of the TPD/TRPR and tried to alter the classification of RDA's at the last minute. Clear guidelines still aren't available for them.

Batteries are only as dangerous as the person in charge of them. People simply refuse to believe that an 18650 cell (typical vaping battery) is nothing like an AA and will short out and explode (it's called venting or thermal runaway) if you put it in your pocket/bag along with keys or loose change.

This is why they often come in plastic cases from reputable vendors.
