little house on the praire

Some know im a 50+ a day smoker. Like everything you cant change until your ready. Well with my wonderful healthy midlife crisis i was hoping the smoking would come with it. I have started to cut down (cause im busy doing other stuff now). So as from today ive banned smoking in my house. Every time i want a cigerette i have to go outside for one. Only a small step. But my diet started with a small step. Addictions are hard to give up and i know i use smoking as a crutch same as some use alcohol. Im not sure what i think is going to happen if i give up smoking but i feel as though someone will be cutting of my arm.

Anyway step one in progress

Do it now whilst you are on a fitness regime... It will help reduce any weight gain.

I stopped on 6th December, after 4 decades.... I am now addressing the stone and a half gained.

As the doctors say... "Cellulite, we can cure. Cancer......."

Good luck

Ive come to the conclusion after 46 years that ive got to do something because i want to and not forcing myself to, so if i used another product id just be substituting. So the hypothesis is i will just forget to smoke.

I know exactly how you feel, I have been off the cigarettes for about 8 months now. My advice would be take each day at a time and mark each day off on a calendar with a big red cross so you can see at a glance what progress you are making, each day I also put the money I saved (about £12)into a jar and that was my incentive... only problem is that I used lozenges to help me stop, and 8 months on I still use the lozenges... but they are a hell of a lot cheaper than cigarettes. Best of luck to you x

Thats my biggest problem it costs me nothing to smoke, we get it in bulk from belguim and jay pays. That would be an incentive to quit. Anyway, its working going outside cause ive not been out since ive been home lol

fair point regarding the duty free.... another plus side i found is that because I stopped I could exercise more easily, found I could run harder and faster so that negated the weight gain issue. I would try the lozenges because you actually get the nicotine fix and taste in your mouth but (unlike me) try not to become dependent on that fix... my next stage is to wean myself off the lozenges.

when yer on a night out. an your dieing for a smoke you have to leave your drinks behind.

when you return, drinks are gone(bar staff took it or some 1 else swipe it),

or you have miss the convo an ask what was said etc.

so advantage is to stop smoking

also if its heavy rain out side your all nice and comfy inside then you leave to go for a smoke, you return all soak hair mess up etc
