Just about every place on the net ,every workplace ,cafe, pub etc will debate and disagree passionately this death today.

All I will say is the same as when Ian Paisley died.

This is a day to recognise the past and make damn sure it never happens again. Both sides lost and lost badly so let's bury him and move on.

The next decade will see more people on both sides leave us. What we can do to honour their work and achievements is to ignore those that want to drag us back into old grudges and not let those whose hearts are consumed by hate infect us like the disease they are.

Northern Ireland is on a path to permanent peace and unity and only by setting aside anger and hate and embracing the opportunities to build relationships and friendships across the divide will we be able to continue the good work of McGuinness and his partners on both sides of the divide.

The last RUC officer killed as a direct result of the conflict, Francis O'Reilly (a Catholic constable), died on 6 October 1998, a month after he had been injured in a Red Hand Defenders pipe-bomb attack in Portadown during the Drumcree conflict

Its pretty sad how the majority in Northern Ireland are trying to move forward and still there are so many unwilling to let go and work towards a better future.

It was a positive thing that the likes of Martin McGuinness were able to forget the murders and ill treatment suffered as a result of unionists and the British government and instead work with them to bring about a peace that many thought was impossible.

Erm America had a congressional and senate hearing about Noraid pulled the plug on it and declared it criminal. Donkeys years ago. Most of their cash and hardware came from crime and eastern funded frontline states.

Militarily the IRA was on its knees. Like it or not we had been there since 1969 and had got too good. That's not a brag. Why do you think PSNI officers go to train the Afghan police?

Even the US army is working in 4 man bricks and 12 man multiples now.

Not only will the violence be forgotten by the next few generations, future peace keeping and peace enforcement operations around the world are all the more successful now for that very, very interesting and valuable time.

The GFA was 1998. The IRA had been on ceasefire for 4 years by the time 9/11 occurred and were not going back to war. It would certainly have made life more difficult for anyone trying to smuggle weapons from around the world but it had no bearing on either SF policy or IRA strategy.

No mate its derry/londonderry. You dont live there so youve nothing to do with what its called. The people that live there have reached a compromise that they agree with. And the local district is officially called Derry and Strabane by the British, Northern Irish and Irish governments so your idea that theres no such place is officially wrong."

And you don't live there so you have nothing to do with it as well.?
